How to add System V Filesystem to Centos?
Hi, I am working on a project where I have to move some parts files from an old Unix server. I have tared the files to floppy disc, but I can't mount them. After doing some reasearch I have found that the SCO Unix ver 3.2 uses a System V filesystem I think. From the article that I have read I need to add this filesystem to my kernel to be able to mount and read the floppy discs. Can

Taring up the OS - how to exclude directories
From the howto: http://www.faqs.org/docs/securing/chap29sec305.html I got some ideas to help me to tar up the OS. I had already been shown how to wrap it into SSH to deposit the tar file on another system, so I tried the following: tar cpvzf - -C / --exclude home --exclude media --exclude mnt --exclude proc --exclude */lost+found | ssh root at 10.0.0.2

Problem in .First.lib
Hello! I downloaded a package "multtest" (from bioconductor.org) in R, and installed it by 'R CMD <package>' (after unzipping and taring). The problem is when I say 'library(multtest)' in R, the following error is generated: Error in dyn.load(x, as.logical(local), as.logical(now)) : unable to load shared library "/usr/local/bin/R-1.4.1/library/multtest/libs/multtest.so": /usr/local/bin/R-1.4.1/library/mu...

smbldap: odd ownership of un-tarred files
...mbldap-tools ver. 0.8.4. I've finally got things working, but just noticed something odd. I have so far only created myself as a user, with uid=1000 and gid=513. As root, I obtained the latest gzip file for squirrelmail and untar'd it. The odd thing is that the directory created by un-taring this file is owned as follows: drwxr-sr-x 16 gurley 1000 4096 Oct 1 2003 squirrelmail-1.4.2 I tried unzipping other random gz files and find that they acquire random ownerships above 1000, instead of the expected root.root! What's going on? Have I messed something up? -Bill- --...

need assistance migrating between apple servers
I am attempting to move imap folders from an Apple Snow Leopard server to a new Apple Mavericks server. Dovecot --version is not working , but I believe the old server is running dovecot 1.1.2 and can confirm the new one is running 2.2.x. I have tried taring and moving folders, but have not been able to get the transfered messages and folders to show up in user accounts (new messages show up fine). I have attempted to recreate index files, but that has not worked either. The last attempt I made to migrate was to use dsync, but it does not exist on...

More detail discriptions about my problem
Dear Mr Bivand and all the authors, Glad to recieve your letter, and it seems that you catched the very bug this time! First of all, there isn't any file named "graphics.Ex-rout" in direction "tests/Examples/" but there are "graphics.Ex.R" and "graphics.Ex-Rout.fail" files there, the latter of which looks like a good crue of my problem. So I tared

newhidups and hidups drivers
I just installed NUT and my UPS is an APC Back-UPS ES 500. I looked in the list of drivers and found APC Back-UPS ES 350 listed in "drivers.txt" -- that list said I should use either the newhidups or hidups driver. I looked in the installation and I found headers and c files to create these drivers (I think), but in /usr/local/ups/bin there is no driver named, "newhidups or

Compiling error
I have successfully gunziped and tared the file Wine-20031118.tar.gz. Whenever I try to compile it, I get to where it is installing "tokensize=ect."( it tries to load a whole lot of different numbers), and then aborts installation. I've tried both ways (as root and as user) with no luck. What am I missing? Thanks for any pointers

My 4.4 upgrades
...only detected problems are: madwifi drivers and lost Thunderbird icons in drawers (just had to go through the properties and reselect the icon). Too soon to tell about anything deeper.... One server so far. This is a new box that I built only a couple weeks ago. Update went fine. I am now taring up the system as a checkpoint before proceeding. Two Trixboxes. I am having that classic Trixbox problem with Centos and Zaptel, so I have to reread the docs, as yum update fails with unresolved dependencies. So after some fear and doubt, I have made the leap!

Installing image via PXE
Hello, I'm not sure whether I'm mailing to the correct list. Please, after taring and feathering, point me to a correct list, in case I'm wrong. I would like to install, or maybe better transfer?, an image I created with dd from a server to the client via pxe. I know that there is a bunch of OSS out there doing a great job administering a bunch of images for server farms, e...

Create time changing by itself?
...ens with my Debian/unstable (samba 2.999+3.0.alpha20-4, 2.4.19 kernel) but also with default Redhat 8 installation. With the Redhat system cp'ing files also complains about this. Both are reading files shared by Windows 2000 (mount //comp/c$ /mnt -o username=xx). It seems to happen mostly when taring larger files. 10MB file was enough with my Debian system. It also needs to read a couple of files before the larger one.

Files not shown with Samba 3.0.4 debian backport
Hi, we are using Debian Woody with Samba 3.0.4 backport. The Clients are Windows XP pro. Since we use this version of Samba a problem occurred twice: In a huge directory there are files not shown in the Explorer. The files are there, the rights are ok, if we want to overwrite the file, Windows says that it is there, but it is not shown. An example: Ablaufinformation - EB-Wahl Okt 02.doc (not
