Thanks Joseph, Aki, but something missing from upgrade document, where does the dh param file go? I located ssl-parameters.dat so I will put it there. Convert a column of numbers to a column of strings
...all the dates in a single string, like this: "20091209, 20091209, .... 20091210, 20091210" "day" ends up being 1 number, 09, instead of a column of days. I ended up having all rDate=2009/12/09, which is the first row. Could you please tell me how to do this correctly? Thanks, Tam -- Tam T. ...st certificate and install the cert-renew cron script, it's not something you have to pay a lot of attention to. I have a few LE certs in use, and I don't think about it anymore: it just works. The shorter cert lifetime also helps limit damage if your certificate gets compromised. Joseph Tam <jtam.home at gmail.com>

Indexing Mail faster
...the diagnostic tools I use is process tracing. Connect via IMAP, in another window/session process trace the IMAP worker process (Linux: strace -r -otrace.dump {pid})), initiate the search and quit. Then you can look through the trace and see whether it gets hung on a particular operation. Joseph Tam <jtam.home at gmail.com>

Catch22: user needs space to fix out of space condition
...t: imap(user): Error: open(/var/mail/user.lock) failed: Disc quota exceeded This created an impasse where a user cannot free space because he needs to create a lock file that cannot be created because he needs free space. Is there any way out of this without administrator intervention? Joseph Tam <jtam.home at gmail.com>

Fallback
hi, i get in trouble, with fallback-mount. What i thought is, if one mount is not available, than the user would redirected to the existing mount, something like that: <mount> <mount-name>/osts</mount-name> <fallback-override>1</fallback-override> <fallback-mount>/chiis-anime-mix</fallback-mount> </mount>

Disable ssl validation for replication?
...both much less palatable than simply disabling the cert > validation if it's possible. Maybe instead of disabling the check, appease it by supplying (in /etc/hosts) an alternate mapping of the FQDN subject of your certificate to your internal IP: 10.x.x.x your.sync.target Joseph Tam <jtam.home at gmail.com>

Change dovecot hostname

If you're talking about Received: headers, that's usually inserted by your MTA, not dovecot. Joseph Tam <jtam.home at gmail.com>

iPhone/iPad IMAP connection bursts causes user+IP exceeded
...here a client-side fix (e.g. connection limiting)? Apple appears to be intransigent on addressing this. 3) Will maintaining search indices (e.g. solr) help with this? Maybe the searches are taking too long and the connections pile up waiting for previous searches to finish. Thanks, Joseph Tam <jtam.home at gmail.com>

...returns exit code 75, and the MTA will probably issue a bounce Email to the sender. If you really don't want the recipient to lose Email, you should buffer the input into a file, run dspam on it, and if the output is not-null, pipe it to dovecot-lda, otherwise pipe the original input. The backtrace is just hex numbers (stripped executables) and I didn't drop privileges, so it refused to drop core, so that's no help. Joseph Tam <jtam.home at gmail.com>
