Problems with SMB.CONF
...you see above, if I use a domain detector except with the format
"194.225.42." , clients on our LAN can not see my machine or connect to
it.
3. The "dont descend" parameter for the "root" share name has not any
effect!
Can someone help me?!

...elete policy is fully under control of administrator in a per

3. The administrator can turns off it for performance critical services.
I am a subscriber of both lists, and have seen a lot of asks for this

Q: mapped drives do not appear
Hi there,
I am having trouble with samba (version 2.0beta4) and I thought
someone might have seen this before. From client PCs (win98
and winnt 4.0) I am able to see my samba server in net hood. I
am able to browse the shared filesystems. I am able to map
drives. However, when a network drive is mapped to a local
drive on a PC, it does not appear in the drive list in
explorer. In a shell

We are now using samba for accesing to the UNIX resources from
our PC's. But my question is ...
WHERE can I find information on how to access to the PC
resources from our UNIX workstations?
Can somebody lead me through all of this amount of information
available about samba?
Thank you ,

System network Scenarios
I was pondering some things. In order to help people just starting out in
integrating their networks full of miscellaneous operating systems with
Windows machines (NT, 98, etc), a collection of scenarios would be nice to
use as reference for building their own samba networks.
For instance, a typical scenario could be:

Dear LIST:
I'm working on SAMBA performance enhancement. Can anyone guide me for a
reference about the 4 WATer mark socket options and their effects on

Have anyone any experiments about using them in the SAMBA code?

HPUX 9.05 & Samba 2.0.0 & problems !
Hi there !
I just upgraded (last friday night) our main Samba host to Samba 2.0.0 from
version 1.9.18p10. This host provides access to our own file based database
system. The number of Samba clients is around 60 (nearly all NT4.0's and
few NT3.51's). The Samba 2.0.0 host runs
'uname -a':
