ssh_SSLeay_add_all_algorithms()
...se calls are all gone.
Is this a bug or can anyone explain how this should work in 5.6p1 and later?
SSLeay_add_all_algorithms() is replaced with OpenSSL_add_all_algorithms().

I just noticed this bug still exists in 5.9p1.
Probably my earlier email was treated as spam because it was in HTML format.

Comparing partial response curves from GAM
...onse curves are "statistically" different. I
recognize that point-wise standard error estimates can be produced using the
GAM package but Im not certain how to translate this into a statistical test
for the entire curve. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks. Solomon

Possible security issue with jails
Howdy!
I'm not sure if this is actually an issue, feature or a bug, but I have found
that inside a jail, the jailed root user is able to sniff traffic (and enable
promiscuous mode) on at least the interface of the IP address the jail is attached
to.
I have not found any documentation explaining if this should occur or not, but
I feel it is something that should at least be known to those

Deviance function in regression trees

I log transform the response variable? If the specification of error
distribution in regression trees is important, than are these techniques
truly " non-parametric". Thanks for your inputs.

atheros chips dangerous?
Hello,
Possibly some of you will have read the news about "Hijacking a
Macbook in 60 Seconds or Less"[1]. At this time I was searching
a wireless card for my server and I wonder how this can affect
to the combination FreeBSD+ath(4).
The ath_hal page states that FreeBSD use a binary driver and
I think it is located in this file[2].
Unlike OpenBSD which affirms that they have

Integrity checking NANOBSD images
We have a number of Soekris devices that we will be deploying
remotely in semi- hostile physical environments. The remote links
are dialup so I dont have a lot of bandwidth available. I want to do
integrity checks of the images so that I can detect any tampering of
the flash image.
If I upload a static sha256 binary to /tmp on the remote box (which
is a RAM disk) and then do something

[patch] Raw sockets in jails
Although RAW sockets can be used when specifying the source
address of packets (defeating one of the aspects of the jail)
some people may find it usefull to use utilities like ping(8)
or traceroute(8) from inside jails.
Enclosed is a patch I have written which gives you the option
of allowing prison-root to create raw sockets inside the prison,

update config.guess and config.sub to support aarch64
Hello,
would it be possible to update config.sub and config.guess to the latest versions (or at least version
from automake-1.13.1) in order to support new architectures based on the ARM 64 bit CPU?
Patch: http://plautrba.fedorapeople.org/openssh/openssh-latest-config.sub-config.guess.patch

Truncating SHA2 hashes vs shortening a MAC for ZFS Crypto
For the encryption functionality in the ZFS filesystem we use AES in CCM
or GCM mode at the block level to provide confidentiality and
authentication. There is also a SHA256 checksum per block (of the
ciphertext) that forms a Merkle tree of all the blocks in the pool.
Note that I have to store the full IV in the block. A block here is a
ZFS block which is any power of two from 512 bytes to

booting gbde-encrypted filesystem
Hello,
I think there was already a thread on this. I just
want to raise the question again if anyone has successfully
booted an gdbe-encrypted filesystem (everything encrypted except
the bootloader). The passphrase is entered at the bootloader prompt
or embedded in the bootloader.
I appreciate any tips.
Thanks,
