Re: virsh channel
I understand that. And since socket paths are different on every VM
startup - is there a virsh command to get paths of currently running
VM?

...ther devices" section I can see two virtio serial ports with
question marks (i did configure guest with 2 virtio channels).
Is this a normal behaviour?

Aftrwards i saw the warning about never restoring database from backups.
Now I have the following problems:

Changing active directory user password via LDAP
Hello, lists.
I'm struggling to find out, how one can change password of an active
directory (based on samba4) user via LDAP.
The problem is that if I try to use userPassword parameter:

changetype: modify
replace: userPassword
userPassword: newPassword
ldapmodify -v -c -a -f filename.ldif -H ldaps://server.domain.com -D\

removing PS/2 keyboard
Hello lists,
I wonder, is there a way to remove a PS/2 keyboard from a guest and
leave it only with USB bus one? Problem is that if i edit guest (via
virsh edit) and change keyboard bus from ps2 to usb, I end up with two
keyboards: ps2 and usb one.

For example, i have a additional spice serial device:

?<target type='virtio' name='com.redhat.kvm-vdi.0'/>
?<address type='virtio-serial' controller='0' bus='0' port='2'/>

Re: [Serusers] ASTERISK+SER+MWI
...patch for this and it supports
ast_data too. What you do is tell asterisk that all of
your phones IP addresses are your SER machine. Then
when a message gets left Asterisk sends the NOTIFY to
username at seripaddress:serport. SER gets it and
since it knows what's up, it relays it to the phone.
Tada! I gave my patch to Rob (who leads up the
ast_data patch. If you need it let me know. Its for
Asterisk 1.0.2 with the 1.0.2 ast_data patch.

Security question for newbie
...owseable Shares in this example, Home, Public, and Software.
Samba and Windows drive mapping take care of this correctly. But say John is a Linux fan, notices that were are using Linux, and decides to play around abit.
John now enters \\(linux machine)\nobody ( more appropriate \\%N\nobody\), and TADA.... he now can see the root file-system for the Linux machine.
Now John can browse through /etc/samba, find my samba.conf file, and see all the shares I may have hidden. I know I can chmod that file but that's not what's scaring me.
John shouldn't be able to see /. I know that user ...

interactive session
Hi guys,
My concern is to create an automated process from the beginning to the end. I
want to copy all my code together in one piece and paste it to R console and sit
back and relax :) except one moment in which the program should ask me to enter
a number.. and only then (only after getting a valid number from me) it should
continue to read and process the rest of the code. I tried lots of

...nd actually trying to log in,
I get a "lost trust" message and have to reboot and hover over the keyboard
to log in quickly. This will repeat itself reliably, unless I get the timing
exactly right (generally, if I can manage to type the username and password
before the standard Win7 "tada" greeting sound ends, I seem to be good).
Very odd.
Second, although once I log in I can map and access server shares just fine,
under no circumstances can I seem to access one Win7 client's local
workstation shares from another Win7 client. To be perhaps more clear, I
have on Client1...

Preliminary Suggestion For Atomic Transactions
In the past there's been a need to provide consistency between symbolic
links or repository metadata during a sync. Currently, rsync renames
files piecemeal. The attached patch (extremely ugly) attempts to
resolve this by foregoing the rename step until the end. It adds a new
option (if we didn't, ls might catch up).
There are several issues to get over. The first big one in running...

Canging bridge names on live migration
Hello,
i wonder, if there's a possibility to change a name of a shared interface in
virtual machine config, while doing migration.
The problem is:
hypervisor1 (source) uses shared interface name "br0".
hypervisor2 (target) uses shared interface name "br500".
Live migration fails, because target hypervisor does not have "br0" interface.
Thank you
