tableGrob and properties of a cell
Hello there,
could you please help to modify gpar() properties of a cell inside
tableGrob() output.
In the following example I want to have different color for one out of 4 cells
require(gridExtra)
z<-matrix(1:4,2,2)
grid.draw(tableGrob(z))
The only way I found for now how to do it is to do something like this
downViewport(current.vpTree()$children[[1]]$children[[6]]$name)
grid...

Underline only colnames in grid.table
Dear all,
I would like to underline only the colnames in a table as e.g.
grid.draw(tableGrob(head(iris, 10), name="test"))
I can imagine you should use grid.edit or so, bu I can't figure out how...
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks Robbert

grid.table with head of two rows
Hi all,
I try to print a table with the grid.draw(tableGrob(...)) function applied
to an ftable object. The output only give me a table without
colnames either rownames, but with edit.grid() I can add only one of them.
And this is the problem, I have a table with a two rows head, like this:

Adding margin text to lattice graphics
Colleagues
I am learning lattice graphics (R 2.12.2; OS X). Several days ago, I inquired about adding margin text to lattice graphics. Jim Price offered a useful reply, suggesting that I add:
page = function(page) grid.text('words', x = 0.5, y = 0.01)
to my call to the function. The entire function that he suggested was;
xyplot(1 ~ 1,
par.settings = list(layout.heights =

help simplifying complex graphic arguments to a function
I'm working on a package to produce graphic displays of 2- and 3-way tables
and need some help/advice on how to simplify the specification of a complex
argument that gives the drawing details for each cell of the table.
Prototypes of two functions, 'tableplot' and 'cellgram' are given below.
The essential idea is that for a given table ('values'), the cells can be

Plotting Data Table
Hi all,
So my question is pretty simple, but unfortunately I have not been able to
find a good answer after extensive google searches.
I am trying to plot an "attractive" data table in R, such as:
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRjfTbTEUWlnb73wtUkY1mbQblWA-2EKEgvTLXGzkqUSpH4mWrk
Such data tables are easily done in Excel, but I am trying to automate the
entire process in R.

Display a contingency table on the X11 device
Hello,
I'd like to output a table to the x11 device, but I can't seem to find an easy way to do it. Specifically, I'd like to display a 2x2 contingency table alongside a graphical plot, but can only see how to output to the console. Is there a library that can do this?
Thanks for any suggestions,
Parker

tabstop in graphics
Hi,
I'm curious about Tab stops in graphics:
plot(1)
text(1.2, 1.2, "Char\nMoreChar")
works fine, but
text(1.2, 0.8, "Char\tMoreChar")
doesn't.
Exporting with pdf tells me that the sign width is unknown.
I'm not into informatics, so I don't know how a tabstop actually works. Is this at all possible in graphical commands as it is in write.table and the like?

Creating pdf report
I'm looking for a way to create a pdf report that contains multiple graphs on one page as well as tables (ideally with some lines below categories etc.) . I have used the pdf(filename) followed by dev.off() to date but this prints one graph per page and does not seem to have functionality for tables.
Thanks

sweave tables as images?
Hello folks,
I've been on a journey trying to figure out how to manage documents that
are amenable to sharing and editing, but that contain dynamic content
generated by R. I've come to the following solution: I use Sweave to
generate labeled png & pdf figures, and I "Insert & Link" those figures
as "Pictures" in a Word 2010 doc. Thus, when data or code

latex code in R -> convert to pdf
hi,
is it possible to convert latex code to pdf in R (like a latex-program
would do it)?
Is there a package that comes with this capabilities?
My problem is that I want to generate tables automatically -
and I can't use a latex editor at that computer ...
Besides latex ... are there good ways to generate tables in R?
thanks for any suggestions!

Figures within tables [slightly off-topic]
Dear R-listers
I am writing a manuscript for a scientific journal in clinical medicine.
I have three groups of patients, and I present a 10*3 table of their
characteristics in Table 1. Some of their characteristics, e.g. their
age, are on a continuous scale, others are dichotomous. I am thinking of
presenting the age distribution in each group as miniature graphs, each
of which must fit in one

Fancy Page layout
Hi,
Working on a report that is going to have a large number of graphs and
summaries. We have 80 "groups" with 20 variables each.
Ideally, I'd like to produce ONE page for each group. It would have two
columns of 10 graphs and then the 5 number summary of the variables at
the bottom.
So, perhaps the top 2/3 of the page has the graphs and the bottom third
has 20 rows of data

R table as integrable object for large Latex Documents - avoiding SWeave
Hi, I am wondering whether some of you have a pointer to an alternative.
I am currently writing my thesis in Latex (several documents), well grown
over time, I am sure many of you are familiar with the situation. Likewise I
am doing the quantitative analysis with R, and again a lot of lines of more
or less wellwritten code. The outputs are graphs (which one can wonderfully
integrate as PNG objects

gplots y alternativas
Hola, queremos consultaros sobre alternativas a esta librería.
http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/gplots/index.html
