samba print server - unable to change "advanced" settings from a client machine 3.5.6
Hello,
I'm having trouble replacing our old print server (debian sarge) with a new
one.
When I enable print$ and force user root and give access to nobody, the
print$ share is working properly. I can create delete, add files etc from a
windows xp machine. What I need now is being able to "go to printers and
faxes, right click on the printer, go to advanced, and click new driver"

netbios name resolution inside linux via samba?
Hello,
I have setup up samba on my pc and everything is working great. I
setup my writable shared folders I can view other servers/pcs on the
network using gnome but sometimes I need to debug some networking
issues and I would like to for example:
ping myserver4
ping: unknown host myserver4
Is there a way to setup up linux to use samba for name resolution?
The only way I know right now is to add

Hello,
Is there a way in logonscript.bat to start a website with some address.
@start "my current default browser" "http://google.com"
?
How would a script line for that look? Does anybody have one done
already and if so could you sent it to me?

Re: cifs verses smbfs for Linux clients -time stamp issue
After mounting a windows share via cifs I have came across the same
issue as described here:

Problems running samba in vmware
I have used samba for nearly 9 years with no problems and we have about
20 users. In the past we have had a dedicated samba server. We have
recently virtualized this server to a quad core Q6600 using vmware
virtual server 1.0.4 on a 64 bit host running ubuntu 7.10.
As part of the virtualization I installed samba 3.0.26a in ubuntu 7.10.
Since this has happened users have complained about
