Sysylinux-6.03 freezes at Loading kernel..., works smooth with 4.06 via SD-CARD
Hi,
In the Bios folder inside mbr, there are different types of mbr_c.bin
mbr_f.bin as well as mbr.bin, is there a description available which tells
which mbr is to be used in which case? please point me to the description
or kindly explain.

Sysylinux-6.03 freezes at Loading kernel..., works smooth with 4.06 via SD-CARD
Hi,
I am trying to boot syslinux with an SD-Card on COMe-mBTi10 board, it works
perfect with syslinux 4-06(as BIOS supports booting from SD-CARD), but
hangs with syslinux-6.03 during 'Loading vmlinuz ... '.
I tried various ways in which I could debug but no hints, just one time I
got the error below the loading screen.

Sysylinux-6.03 freezes at Loading kernel..., works smooth with 4.06 via SD-CARD
Hi,
First of all thank you so much for your prompt suggestions/help. I really
appreciate this.
Here is the syslinux.cfg which works perfect with syslinux-4.06

KERNEL vmlinuz0
APPEND initrd=initrd.img root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootwait rootfstype=ext3

Sysylinux-6.03 freezes at Loading kernel..., works smooth with 4.06 via SD-CARD
Hi
I have tried to install syslinux 4.06 on the SD card again, it works like a
charm.
I am being very carefull with c32 files from the same version bootloader.
No success.
I am also unmounting /dev/sdb1 before installing syslinux, as mentioned in
the given documentations.
In the pasted syslinux.cfg content--- I have also tried using only one
DEFAULT directive. No success.

"Tick-counting" vs "Tick-less" timekeeping issues on VMs emulating BIOS PCs
Before 6.X Syslinux used a "Tick-less" timekeeping approach implemented in
/core/bios.inc
6.X now implements a "Tick-counting" strategy (timer interrupt) implemented in
/core/timer.inc
I think this change presents issues when Sysylinux runs on Virtual Machines
emulating a BIOS environment as they cannot correctly emulate the timer interrupt;
see VMware's pdf:
https://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/Timekeeping-In-VirtualMachines.pdf
At the moment I'm seeing timing issues on TFTP transfers (lwIP depends
on the new interrupt...
