CentOS LiveCD on USB
I have been following these instructions: https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=501 to put a bunch of utilities (Clonezilla, SystemRescue, CentOS netinstall/rescue, etc.) on a single USB key. It works great for everything (including Ubuntu Live) except the CentOS 6.4 LiveCD. (You can see my postings at the bottom of the forum.) When booting the LiveCD, I got: Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! Pid: 1, comm: init...

HDD Problem....
...happens. Can anyone volunteer some advice as to where I would look for troubleshooting this issue? I really am not interested in what's on it. I just want to re-format it and (possibly) use it for storage. I have tried using various toosl to try and wipe this drive but nothing seems to work...(SystemRescue CD....D.B.A.N.......PartImage....Hiram's BootCD....) Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks In Advance EGO II

Grub Error 22; no Windows
...p and is about 1 GB After backing up, there were 4KB of errors, but all at the end of the disk around 118GB. This used to be a partition back in the day, but I deleted it accidentally. I want to back up to this new larger disk b/c the original 120GB disk is discontinued. I boot from a live cd - SystemRescue CD - and run e2fsck -c -c -C 0 y on sda1 and sda2 on the backup drive, and it seems to finish fine. Then I replaced the OS drive with the backup drive, and it goes to boot, then Grub Loading Stage 1.5; Error 22. Here's the important stuff from fstab: # This file is edited by fstab-sync - see...

Live CD with btrfs support
Hello everybody, I prepared a kernel patch and an ebuild for btrfs, Fran?ois was kind enough to add btrfs support to his live cd. So Systemrescue CD 0.4.4-beta6 is the first live cd with btrfs-0.11 support (I think). http://www.sysresccd.org/Beta-x86 I will try to keep Fran?ois up to date if decides to keep btrfs support. Have fun! ;) -- Regards, Chris -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Name:...

Where to download a centos4 livecd image?
Hi I can't find a place where I can download a centos4.x livecd iso I only found a centos5 image on the web. Can anyone give me an url? I'd like to clone centos4 machines, using the livecd. I used a systemrescue live cd image to create the filesystem structure with evms, and copy all files, but have problems with installing grub, because the version is not the same. I imagine it would be better to use a centos4 livecd to install the grub MBR. If anyone has a suggestion, it would be nice. Thanks

Fully-Virtualized XEN domU not Booting over iSCSI
Hello, I am currently trying to move my VMs from running on local host storage to a shared storage (trying out iSCSI) but I am facing a bit of a booting dilemma. The domUs are a mix of paravirtualized and fully-virtualized VMs. They all boot and run like clockwork when on local storage. The paravirtualized domUs appear not to have a problem when I relocate and boot them from the shared storage

Clonezilla SE with CentOS5
Hi all, I'm looking for a cloning solution for our Windows/Linux/*nix computer park and ran into Clonezilla. Apparantely the DRBL and other documentation mentions CentOS as a suitable base for it. Does anybody on this list use this solution and can say something about it in the running-Clonezilla-with-CentOS-context, be it recommendations, gotchas', warnings or whatever? Thanks. -- BW,

com32 module compatibility between 5.x versions
...> a bootable ISO to create a bootable USB. So if the bootable system > installed on the ISO took that into consideration from the get go, > that would help a lot. Pete, I do this all the time. I put a number of ISOs on my USB--several versions each of Fedora, Centos, PartedMagic, AVG, SystemRescueCD, and others. Putting just one distribution on it should be easier. But if you want to have several, this is how I do it: 1. grab the syslinux distribution you want to use--probably the latest is best. Create a bootable USB from this distribution. If the USB is /dev/sdc, you should...

com32 module compatibility between 5.x versions
H. Peter Anvin schreef op 9-8-2013 7:37: > Sorry. If you are substituting any files you should substitute them all. I assume it's not possible to store a copy of the LDLINUX.SYS binary at the end or inside of either ISOLINUX.BIN or LDLINUX.C32 then? Then at least it could be extracted, for those distributions not having LDLINUX.SYS / SYSLINUX(64).EXE present on their CD. Having

Resize guest filesystem question
Greetings - I am going through some testing steps to expand a logical volume and the corresponding filesystem on a KVM guest and have run across a deficiency in my knowledge. I spent the afternoon yesterday googling for answers, but had have come up blank still. What I am trying to do is resize the file system to use the additional disk space that I added to the logical volume that the
