Hi, if you can provide a prepared src tarball like you do for releases, I can test. But I still cannot build from git source (as you may remember). -- Regards, Igor

Crashed ext3-filesystem
...HDD (30GB, 1 large primary ext3 partition) and until yesterday it worked correctly. Because the partition was nearly full we had to enlarge our home-space by moving it to a larger HDD. We decided to try a copy of whole partition by using gparted from the "SystemRescueCd" (http://www.sysresccd.org). The first try failed, because the FS-type of our home-partition wasn't recognized. A second boot was tried and this time the FS-type was recognized correctly so we started copying the partition to another HDD (80GB). After about 40% to 50% the copy-procedure crashed an left our syste...

Booting a complete CD iso image via PXE: SystemRescueCD
...t I mention if it someone else runs into the same problem. While some mails in the archive point out that it is not possible to just take a CD iso image and boot it over PXE, it *is* possible to boot over PXE and the download the rest of the image into RAM over ethernet. SystemRescueCD (http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page) is a CD image that does exactly that. Moreover, one can just boot the CD on one computer and then setup that computer as PXE boot-server with a simple script. A second computer (without CD, but connected to the first computer) can then boot over PXE from the first computer into exact...

converting a floppy disk layout to partition layout
Hi all! I have a slight problem: I have an external disk which contains one big filesystem (like a floppy) type ext3 (If you ask why: blame udev or maxtor, or me because I am stupid) which is approx 60% filled. Now I want to have a partition table, ie a layout where the current filesystem is the first partition, and the rest is as usual. Is this possible withotu destroying the data? Best

Live linux booting
I have a need to have a live Linux (Debian or sysrescued ) to boot off a hard-drive so that the hard-drive ends up umounted after boot. (for running partimage ). I've gone down the memdisk iso route and read about the issues there - I've seen a way to do this by mounting over nfs (messy) - but I want to do this without the network. I'm thinking that there should be a way to loop

How to Backup and Restore MBR within Logical Volumes?
Hi All, I have several Xen virtual machines within logical volumes using LVM2. I did not use disk images for performance reasons. Conventionally, if I want to clone my virtual machines, I have to dd the LV to an image file. But this consumes a lot of time and harddisk space. So, instead of doing that, I want to use losetup and kpartx with my logical volumes, which contain operating systems of

Nested PXELINUX configurations
Hello all, I have a boot server (running Debian Lenny x64) with a number of bootable options already configured (freedos, memtest, sysresccd etc). What I am struggling to do now is add Ubuntu and Debian netinst images so that I can boot from the network and have all the boot options available as if I was using a CD-ROM. The problem is that (as far as I can tell) the Ubuntu and Debian PXELINUX assume that they are located in the tft...

Resize KVM NTFS file system
...s to do NTFS re-sizing. I tend to disagree with that advice... I would recommend http://gparted.org/livecd.php over the microsoft-supplied tools, in a heartbeat. Boot off that Live image on a CD or thumbdrive (or use the version of GPartEd included with the System Rescue Live CD from http://www.sysresccd.org/ ), select the correct disk from the drop down menu in the upper-right, set the borders of the partitions where you want them with the GUI, then tell it to Apply the pending actions. If I recall correctly, the disk management tool in the windows MMC won't resize the partition it's runn...
