Replication: long detalys
Hello everybody,
I am running dovecot 2.1.7 on Debian Wheezy on two servers with
replication set up, MTA is postfix. The idea is to have a redundant mail
system so that when one server fails, users can continue using the other
server (failover of POP/IMAP through DNS redirection). Servers are
called srv06 and srv07:
Below is the dovecot config, both servers have identical config, only

Samba AD with advance password policies
Hi everyone,
I need an active directory instance with some non-standart policies to
users passwords:
1) Group users minimal length is 6, Group Administrators 12
2) Should have special symbols (!#$) and numbers are required
3) Password must not be dictionary words or based on them ( no admin, user,
sysop etc)
4) Each new password must differ to the old one by 50%.
Can I do all those in samba ad?

System Users with IMAP
Hi All,
Sorry if this is a dumb questions, but what methods are available for
retrieving mail for a system user i.e www-data. Basically my setup is
just a normal Dovecot-IMAP which is working fine for shell users, but I
want to be able to read mail for system users via IMAP.
Is this doable?
Cheers

[LLVMdev] [cfe-dev] RFC: Upcoming Build System Changes
I wouldn't say that. I know quite a few systems here around that even try to
avoid python where possible. but cmake however, as a build system, is
welcomed by all of us (working as a sysop in a unix environment).
I'd also (as a non-llvm-dev but llvm-userdev) vote for NOT reinventing the
wheel but to use the tool the fits you the best, personally that's even
cmake, too. it has a well

Sharing bandwidth
Hi there,
I''ve got the following problem on my hand.....
I''m a sysop for a school in the netherlands. We have a network with 5
different schools (and 1 administration). Each of those have their own
ip range in the private network (10.4.0.0 10.5.0.0 and so on).
For all these schools we have an internet uplink of 2mbit. And this
bandwidth should be shared as fairly as possible.

New antispam measures on the wiki
It is by now clear that a handful of persistent spammers have started
using semiautomated attacks targeted specifically at our wiki ... one
careless spammer even uploaded some of his scripts!
As a result, I have switched the wiki to a mode where editors need to be
explicitly authorized, manually, before they can edit. As a result,
people will need to first create an account, and then get a

Hi,
Do you have any documentation on the protocol used by the icecast-server?
I wrote a tool for multiplexing (proxying) shoutcast-sessions and I would
also like to convert it for icecast-sessions. This shoutcastproxy makes it
possible to listen with a couple of people to a session while only 1 is
retrieved from a shoutcastserver

syslinux wiki
I have created a HowTo page with a few things which I hope to eventually
expand. How does one add a link to it from the side bar.
I was going to add stuff to the wiki about the structure of the config file
and using the menu's, when I saw that the information is already there, just
not easily reachable. I think the wiki can be made a lot more usable, if we
just add a few links here are there.

xsl, xml, ARRGH!
Hello...
Coming from an Icecast 1 background, I tend to like the admin
functionality of Icecast1 over Icecast2. Fixing this is but some file
editing away, I supposed.
I'm trying to simplify the administration screens for myself and
co-sysop.
In testing, if I copy the listclients.xsl into the web directory, it
works like I would like... almost. I get a listing of every stream on the

restarting samba using a cron job on Debian
For some reason my secondary DC loses sync every once in a while. It
looks like this in samba-tool drs showrepl:
Last attempt @ Thu Nov 19 13:53:09 2015 CET failed, result 5
(WERR_ACCESS_DENIED)
229 consecutive failure(s).
Last success @ Wed Nov 18 18:48:07 2015 CET
Restarting samba fixes the issue for an unpredictable time. Sometimes
hours, sometimes many weeks. So I wrote a script to

[JOB] 90 Seconds seeks Ruby on Rails Developer

with:
- Ruby on Rails framework (Ruby 1.9.3, Rails 3.0.10)
- PostgreSQL Database (9.0.x) (raw SQL used in several places)
- RSpec Testing Framework
- Git and Github
The following experience is also wanted, but not required:
- Familiarity with Xero and the Xero API
- Basic SysOps abilities (restarting frozen app servers - rarely need to
though)
We have very little delay in pushing new features to the production site
(usually within an hour after a feature is completed). Therefore, we want
to keep the application as stable as possible, so all work will be done in

OpenSSH v3.8p1 fails to interoperate for GSSAPI (Kerberos) and X-Windows
...dows issue moot, but eventually we would
need to get ForwardX11Trusted turned on when needed: likely turn it on
in ssh_config.
For the Future:
In OpenSSH v3.9 I hope to see both gssapi-with-mic and old-style gssapi
supported by both the client and the server. I understand the need to
encourage sysops to upgrade to gssapi-with-mic, but a suicide strategy
(upgrading is mandatory and we won't talk to you if you don't) is
suicidal for you, not for us. A truly paranoid sysop, in an environment
where "man in the middle" attacks are expected, will put only
gssapi-with-mic in Preferr...
