Two questions; Synchronious Scanning and Home Directories
After spending some time finding uses for rsync, (and there are many),
I've come across two possible areas of improvement.
The first is, would scanning on the destination or client side while
receiving the file list be possible? In theory, it would relieve some of
the delay incurred by the bandwidth from the server during the initial
downloading of the file list.
Not everyone would want to

SCEVExpander and IRBuilder
Hello,
I use SCEVExpander and IRBuilder to generate some code and I frequently
end-up breaking dominance because the SCEVExpander insertion point and the
IRBuilder insertion point do not advance in synchrony.
Ideally, I could build a SCEVExpander based on an existing IRBuilder (so
that they move each other). Or even better, SCEVExpander inherit from
IRBuilder and basically extend it with SCEV expander capabilities (then I
don't need to use a separate IRBuilder).
Or maybe I am using them wrong? Wh...

survfit, summary, and survmean (was Changelog for survival package)
...nded as internal, and not documented in the help.
The computations done by print.survfit are now a part of the results returned by
summary.survfit. See 'table' in the output list of ?summary.survfit. Both
call an internal survmean() function to ensure that any future updates stay in
synchrony.
This was a perennial (and justified) complaint with print.survfit. Per the
standard print(x) always returns x, so there was no way to get the results of
the print as an S object.

Relase positive with log and zero of negative with 0
This is a very simple question but I couldn't form a site search quesry that would return a reasonable result set.
Say I have a vector:
x <- c(0,2,3,4,5,-1,-2)
I want to replace all of the values in 'x' with the log of x. Naturally this runs into problems since some of the values are negative or zero. So how can I replace all of the positive elements of x with the log(x) and the

(that are in MS Word format), as it lets me branch, and lets me rewind
to see what has been sent. I'm afraid I even include my filemaker
databases, as it means I have a rolling backup. Plus, a big advantage is
that I can keep all my work files on two separate computers, and I keep
the two in synchrony automatically by judicious updating and merging. My
main writing is in LaTeX and clearly version control excels for these
plain text documents. I really would recommend it! I've used TortoiseSVN
on Windows, and it works superbly, although on my primary machine (Mac),
I just use the command line...

DTrace as a security tool / http://systrace.org
I''d like to see if we can use DTrace to as the kernel implementation of
the BSD systrace security policy system (http://www.systrace.org). I
don''t really want to port systrace to Solaris because I think with
DTrace we already have all the necessary in kernel hooks to do this.
With systrace you express things like: "httpd can bind to port 80 but
not any other port, it
