Can't access samba because "session setup failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID"
Thank you Rowland, now i can see a way to make it work finally.
The OpenLDAP server users will still grow as time goes by. What should i do
to keep the synchonization of the new LDAP users with the created AD users?
Is it like i'll have the same base twice?

How to make the connection between MikTEX and R
Hi:
After a couple of days trying to synchonize or connect MiKTex and R I'm getting a little frustrated. My knowledge about creating and running batch
files is kind of limited so, I was wondering if someone could explain in plain english how to do this task. I'm able to run MiKtex by itself and accomplish what I am trying to do, but I want to be able to use the Sweave function from within

Two rsync questions
Hi, rsync:
I am a newbie of rsync and I am very interest in it. I have two
questions here:
1. I want to use rsync to synchronize files between two machines,
one is SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 and another is RedHat
9(synchonize files from SuSE --> RedHat, using ssh). And I found that
rsync cannot deal with some files with chinese filename. Is this an
encode problem(I know that

newbie question about a dbuf-arc eviction race
Hi,
Can a dbuf be in DB_CACHED state, db_holds == 0,
b_efunc != NULL while its db_buf is put on the
eviction list ? From an ASSERT in dbuf_do_evict(),
it appears that it can. If it can, I am wondering what
is preventing the following race
dbuf_hold_impl()
db = dbuf_find(dn, level, blkid);
...
if (db->db_buf && refcount_is_zero(&db->db_holds)) {

Linux/NIS+
Hello,
I'm having a problem configuring samba (2.0.5a) on a Linux
system using NIS+ as the password system. Samba complains that
it cannot find the smbpasswd file, which is not surprising as
I'm not using one. I tried 'smb password file = passwd.org_dir'
that sort of worked, except that it creates a directory called
passwd.org_dir from whatever directory I ran the smbd from.

questions on clock catchup
In http://libvirt.org/formatdomain.html#elementsTime , we could find there are
three attributes of catchup tickpolicy: limit, threshold and slew.
"
The catchup element has three optional attributes, each a positive integer.
The attributes are threshold, slew, and limit.
"
The xml format likes:
<clock offset='utc'>
<timer name='rtc'

Adaptec 39320A woes
I'm having speed problems with the SCSI card we're using to do tape
backup. It seems to be functioning in 16 bit mode and the current
thinking is that perhaps it's using a legacy driver instead of the
correct one. The Adaptec site has a 'driver' for RHEL5 which I've
downloaded and tried to install but it seems to have a problem
installing on a CentOS-5 system.

Configure replication in backup mode
Dovecot 2.2.27 (c0f36b0)
I'm trying to configure dovecot to backup all my email to a secondary
server using "dsync".
I got it working in "sync" mode or two-way synchonization, that means
whatever happens in one server gets replicated in the other.
However, documentation also says that a one way synchronization is
posible, yet, after spending a good amount of hours

Can't access samba because "session setup failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID"
Sorry for my delay in answering Rowland, i had an emergency trip.
The ldap is used only for authentication, that's right, but a lot of
services on institution here use it. So if i turn off ldap machine, all
that services gonna stop working, so i'm not allowed to do this.
Afterall, i managed to use Samba 4 to consult LDAP and log in by using it's
user credentials stored, recovered my

Can't access samba because "session setup failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID"
Yes, i didn't mention but i'm using Debian, thanks.
I've read the link you've sent but i think i didn't understand. Sorry if
i'm looking dumb about Samba stuff, but i really am :') It's my first time
dealing with Samba.
Just to clarify more, the first thing i should do is configure Samba 4 as
an AD DC, then after this step set up Samba as a Domain Member?

recommendations for copying large filesystems
I need to copy over 100TB of data from one server to another via network.
What is the best option to do this? I am planning to use rsync but is there
a better tool or better way of doing this?
For example, I plan on doing
rsync -azv /largefs /targetfs
/targetfs is a NFS mounted filesystem.
Any thoughts?
TIA

Opus Tools -- low bitrates, new features in 1.5, "expect-loss"

When I first tried encoding at a higher bitrate, I needed to test the
different behavior of the "mid" (l+r) and "side" (l-r) channels. That's
why I made the first sweep identical on both the left and the right
channel (i.e. "side" is silent)

xml transcript stream proposal
Ok, here's what I've been thinking of in terms of the scrolling lyrics
format for Ogg. An xml stream, it matches the head-body-[body-]-tail
structure I suggested for packetization.
I'm happy with the lyrics aspect, and it maps cleanly onto the existing
formats. I also think it will handle the talk transcript, subtitle, and
karaoke requirements well. I call it a 'transcript'
