Can't access samba because "session setup failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID"
Thank you Rowland, now i can see a way to make it work finally. The OpenLDAP server users will still grow as time goes by. What should i do to keep the synchonization of the new LDAP users with the created AD users? Is it like i'll have the same base twice? samba pdc roaming profiles
...= /home/%U browseable = no valid users = %S writable = yes guest ok = no inherit permissions = yes [public] comment = Public Stuff path = /home/public public = yes writeable = no browseable = yes write list = @users all work fine i have to admit. My question is: Is there any way to be a real time synchonization between the profiles? To force windows not to copy the profile from server when the user logs in but use the one residing directly on the linux box.

How to make the connection between MikTEX and R
Hi: After a couple of days trying to synchonize or connect MiKTex and R I'm getting a little frustrated. My knowledge about creating and running batch files is kind of limited so, I was wondering if someone could explain in plain english how to do this task. I'm able to run MiKtex by itself and accomplish what I am trying to do, but I...

Two rsync questions
Hi, rsync: I am a newbie of rsync and I am very interest in it. I have two questions here: 1. I want to use rsync to synchronize files between two machines, one is SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 and another is RedHat 9(synchonize files from SuSE --> RedHat, using ssh). And I found that rsync cannot deal with some files with chinese filename. Is this an encode problem(I know that SuSE uses UTF-8 but I don't know the encoding method of RedHat)? What can I do to let rsync recognizes these files correctly? Here is the...

newbie question about a dbuf-arc eviction race
Hi, Can a dbuf be in DB_CACHED state, db_holds == 0, b_efunc != NULL while its db_buf is put on the eviction list ? From an ASSERT in dbuf_do_evict(), it appears that it can. If it can, I am wondering what is preventing the following race dbuf_hold_impl() db = dbuf_find(dn, level, blkid); ... if (db->db_buf && refcount_is_zero(&db->db_holds)) {

Linux/NIS+
...sort of worked, except that it creates a directory called passwd.org_dir from whatever directory I ran the smbd from. However, it still can't find any users. Obviously, I'm missing a concept here. Any hints? Basically, I do not want to use a smbpasswd file (too much of a pain to keep it synchonized); I want to do all authentication off of the existing NIS+ password system. Nothing fancy, just all valid NIS+ users should be able to log into samba with the same password. I did recompile with -DWITH_NISPLUS, that is the version I've been playing with above. Thanks for any suggestions,...

questions on clock catchup
In http://libvirt.org/formatdomain.html#elementsTime , we could find there are three attributes of catchup tickpolicy: limit, threshold and slew. " The catchup element has three optional attributes, each a positive integer. The attributes are threshold, slew, and limit. " The xml format likes: <clock offset='utc'> <timer name='rtc'

Adaptec 39320A woes
I'm having speed problems with the SCSI card we're using to do tape backup. It seems to be functioning in 16 bit mode and the current thinking is that perhaps it's using a legacy driver instead of the correct one. The Adaptec site has a 'driver' for RHEL5 which I've downloaded and tried to install but it seems to have a problem installing on a CentOS-5 system. [root at

Configure replication in backup mode
Dovecot 2.2.27 (c0f36b0) I'm trying to configure dovecot to backup all my email to a secondary server using "dsync". I got it working in "sync" mode or two-way synchonization, that means whatever happens in one server gets replicated in the other. However, documentation also says that a one way synchronization is posible, yet, after spending a good amount of hours searching, I failed to find what do I have to modify in my "30-dsync.conf" to do so....

Very slow mail download/notification with dovecot 2.2.33 and Thunderbird
...n, razor, pyzor, .... And as IMAP client I am using Thunderbird 68.4 on Windows10. Sieve is used to sort incoming mails into my 224 folders (56 INBOX. folders and its subfolders (output of "find .INBOX.* -maxdepth 4 -type d -print |wc -l")). My problem is that it takes very very long to synchonize the INBOX and its subfolders. Even if there are only a few new messages to be downloaded. Sometimes Thunderbird outputs something like "downloading message 1 of 19" and it takes at least 60 seconds to download all of them. None of these 19 mails is larger than 5kB. And sometimes it see...

...hup limit='123'/> > </timer> > </clock> > > But there is no further explanation. > Does anyone know what's the meaning of these attributes ? > What an interesting question. At first I thought the meanings are the same as in ntpd(1) and other time-synchonizing apps. But then I looked into the code to see what we're passing to hypervisors and it seems like since 2010, when this was added, these values were never used. [Cc-ing Laine as he is the author of commit 8bf6799b] I can't be sure though. Laine, do you recall any usage of these sett...

Re: FXRuby and Threads (was: radiobuttons are weird in 1.2.x series)
...program. Hmm, that groupbox.rb code breaks "correctly" (doesn''t update time very often) when application.disableThreads is called. Do you mean an external thread that *directly* affects FXRuby components? Mine does not interface with FXRuby at all - it merely communicates via a synchonized queue and it is the FXRuby process (via a chore) that does the alteration. Perhaps that is it? *shrug* bil

Can't access samba because "session setup failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID"
Yes, i didn't mention but i'm using Debian, thanks. I've read the link you've sent but i think i didn't understand. Sorry if i'm looking dumb about Samba stuff, but i really am :') It's my first time dealing with Samba. Just to clarify more, the first thing i should do is configure Samba 4 as an AD DC, then after this step set up Samba as a Domain Member? And

recommendations for copying large filesystems
I need to copy over 100TB of data from one server to another via network. What is the best option to do this? I am planning to use rsync but is there a better tool or better way of doing this? For example, I plan on doing rsync -azv /largefs /targetfs /targetfs is a NFS mounted filesystem. Any thoughts? TIA -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

DO NOT REPLY [Bug 7368] New: Support --link-dest when receiving from a old version
...: 3.0.7 Platform: Other OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P3 Component: core AssignedTo: wayned at samba.org ReportedBy: joerg.sommer at ateo.de QAContact: rsync-qa at samba.org I'm synchonizing files with a host that has only rsync version 2.6.3 protocol version 28 installed. I want to use the link-dest option at my side, but rsync refuses to use it, because the negotiated protocol version is to old. But I don't see, why link-dest depends on the protocol. Isn't it an option...

xml transcript stream proposal
...ucture I suggested for packetization. I'm happy with the lyrics aspect, and it maps cleanly onto the existing formats. I also think it will handle the talk transcript, subtitle, and karaoke requirements well. I call it a 'transcript' stream as the most general of these terms. We treat synchonized and staic transcripts of equal footing. The timestamps themselves are marked by optional attributes on just about any xml tag, so they can easily be added to a static transcript, or ignored for static display of a syncronized one. The difference probably will be flagged in the stream descriptio...

[BUG 2.6.32.y] Broken PV migration between hosts with different uptime, non-monotonic time?
...easure the time a task spends sleeping, in which case "unstolen time" isn''t meaningful. So just use plain xen_clocksource_read to return wallclock nanoseconds for sched_clock. 2.6.36 does not work, since 489fb49 and e7a3481 are missing: Without the "global synchonization point for pvclock" (AKA last_value) plus the fix to "reset it to 0 on resume" VMs migrate fine in the opposite direction (older=higher uptime → newer=lower uptime), but the original direction (lower→higher) now stalls for 5 minutes. 2.6.37 (which includes above patches) wo...
