synaptics problem
Hi,
I've recently installed FreeBSD 6.3, and I've got a problem with
synaptics.
I've installed it, followed the pkg-message :
hw.psm.synaptics_support=1
It works, dmesg gives :
psm0: <PS/2 Mouse> irq 12 on atkbdc0
psm0: [GIANT-LOCKED]
psm0: model Synaptics Touchpad, device ID 0
moused_enable="NO"
ps shows me that moused doesn't run.

[ANNOUNCE] xf86-input-synaptics 1.9.1
synaptics 1.9.1 is now available. A few build system janitorial things, a
compatibility patch by Luca and one patch to avoid log spam when the device
goes away (and before udev tells us that it's gone).
synaptics is in maintenance mode, so don't expect any new great features.

[ANNOUNCE] xf86-input-synaptics 1.6.3
synaptics 1.6.3 is now available. Over the RC this release only includes a
config example.
Compared to 1.6.2, we've had a memory leak fixed, better behaviour for
synaptics soft buttons and, most importantly, a fix to reset the touch state
after suspend.
Cheers,
Peter

The first snapshot for synaptics 1.9 is now available.
A bunch of patches that have been sitting on git master for quite a while

touch events from the driver. Previously, when all in...

...ly works again.
Note: Due to the ubiquity of multi-touch capable touchpads, the driver will
pick two-finger scrolling over edge scrolling if two-finger detection is
supported by the hardware. Edge-scrolling is then disabled.
Kernels up to excluding 2.6.29 announce multi-touch capabilities for all
synaptics touchpads even if the hardware does not support it. If you have a
such a touchpad, you will need to enable edge scrolling explicitly in the
configuration.
Please file any bugs against the Input/synaptics component.

touchpad problem
Hi all!
I have a new-to-me (i.e., used) laptop and am having a problem making
the touchpad behave.
It is an old HP Elitebook 8530p, and I THINK it has a synaptics
touchpad. But I don't remember how to get more specifics than that
on Linux, lspci, lsusb and lshw don't tell me anything helpful.
lsmod doesn't list anything containing "syn" or "synaptics".
Anyway, I've installed C7 on the laptop and pretty much everything

trying to install 5.2 on a laptop
...led it onto a
laptop (Acer Aspire 3680). Note that I'm *totally* new to laptops.
The install went fine. But, when I boot it, it errors at the user login.
A screen comes up, stating that X11 cannot start, and that it's probably
the mouse.
A bit of investigating revealed that there is no Synaptics module
installed. It will boot into runlevel=3.
I tried the 'upgrade' option of the netinstall disk; it saw that 5.2 is
installed, and quit. |:(
