zfs in san
I am planning to use zfs with fiber attached san disk from a emc symmetrix''s
Based on a note in the admin guide it appears that even though
the symmetrixs will handle the hardware raid it is still advisable to create
a zfs mirror on the host side to take full advantage of zfs''s self
healing/error checking and correcting.
is this true ?
Additionally I am wondering how the zfs mirror will handle a backend disk
failure on the Symmetrixs ?

If anyone is running this configuration, I have some questions for you about Page83 data errors.

FiberChannel, and EMC tutorial?
Hi all,
Can anyone explain to me, or point me to any docs that explain how the
following numbers map together?
I have multiple LUNS exported to my HBA''s from multiple EMC arrays.
zpool status, and /dev/dsk show device names like:

ZFS panics solaris while switching a volume to read-only
Hi,
I just found out that ZFS triggers a kernel-panic while switching a mounted volume
into read-only mode:
The system is attached to a Symmetrix, all zfs-io goes through Powerpath:
I ran some io-intensive stuff on /tank/foo and switched the device into
read-only mode at the same time (symrdf -g bar failover -establish).
ZFS went ''bam'' and triggered a Panic:

Multiple OCFS intances in the same LAN
Hi,
is it possible and safe to use more than one RAC-Cluster using OCFS in the same LAN?
I'm considering to following setup: a 2-node production and a 2-node test system, the production data is stored in an EMC Symmetrix and for the test-system the production data is copied once to a BCV disk internally. This will give me an new independant copy of the production disk with the same contents,

Rsync locking up. HP/UX 11.0
First, thanks for reading this long winded message. I have tried
searching everywhere, and reading everything I could possibly find before
posting this message... lol
I am writing Disaster Recovery software for the company I work for. I
have an HP/UX 11.0 server (N Class) dedicated to doing DR related work.
Basically, I sync up a 3rd set of mirrors to our live data, split it off,

ext3 and 64 bit addressing
Dear List People:
I am doing some comparisons of different fs's and need to know where ext3
stands in terms of 64 bit addressing. XFS and JFS claim to be full 64 bit
systems (though are there not still kernel limitations that would, for the
time being, reduce the ability to use a full 64 bits?), what about ext3??
TIA

ZFS and powerpath
How much fun can you have with a simple thing like powerpath?
Here''s the story: I have a (remote) system with access to a couple
of EMC LUNs. Originally, I set it up with mpxio and created a simple
zpool containing the two LUNs.
It''s now been reconfigured to use powerpath instead of mpxio.
My problem is that I can''t import the pool. I get:

Yager on ZFS
Not sure if it''s been posted yet, my email is currently down...
http://weblog.infoworld.com/yager/archives/2007/10/suns_zfs_is_clo.html
Interesting piece. This is the second post from Yager that shows
solaris in a pretty good light. I particularly like his closing
comment:
"If you haven''t checked out ZFS yet, do, because it will eventually
become ubiquitously implemented
