Voice activity detection
Hey sorry to hijack this thread, but I just remembered a request I wanted to make to the speex devs. I tried using the activity detector, but I just couldn't get it working well. I ended up using my own, where I think it just considered voice on if it passed a certain threshold (I know, pretty primitive). I also tried one that checked for a signal, like if the strongest frequency

xml transcript stream proposal
Ok, here's what I've been thinking of in terms of the scrolling lyrics format for Ogg. An xml stream, it matches the head-body-[body-]-tail structure I suggested for packetization. I'm happy with the lyrics aspect, and it maps cleanly onto the existing formats. I also think it will handle the talk transcript, subtitle, and karaoke requirements well. I call it a 'transcript'

A case including VAD bug
Hi all: I was analysising the speex code these days and learned much from it. Thank you so much! But I have a question about VAD: After preprocess(denoise and agc are off, vad is on),the input pcm speech was distorted seriously. The input speech include ten syllables(one~ ten), but the output speech lost one! Can you tell me why? Please see the attachment about input and output: (See attached file: input&output.7z) I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance. SPA-3000 is translating vocal sounds into DTMF
I'm sure there must be a setting I'm missing somewhere, so I thought I might was well ask here. Conversations are punctuated by sudden replacement of a given syllable or so of conversation with a DTMF tone. I would hope perhaps there's some kind of setting that has to do with the way it detects inband DTMF? I'm pretty sure it's an artifact of this particular ATA; my

SLES?
Hi all, Just curious, Quite a while a go, i was checking for supported SW-platform. AFAIR, it was RHES and SLES Now it's only RHES-4 and FC-3 or FC-4. Not a single syllable about CentOS or SLES-9 or SLES-10 It probably just runs fine, but any chance of getting support for their *-enterprise version? Reducing echo on FXS port
...the whole words we say with the level of maybe 25% of the original sound. I can reduce the echo to maximum with the following settings for my FXS port on zapata.conf: rxgain=-8.0 txgain=2.0 echocancel=256 echotraining=500 But it is still not entirely eliminated as we still sometimes hear the last syllables, with the level of maybe 5% of the original sound. What I did was just playing around with the values of those parameters, use ztmonitor to have the FXS rx/tx signal visualised and use only my ears to check it. I think my ears are fine :), as I do this because my friends complain about the echo th...

Port to other Operating Systems
As part of our port of OpenVMS to x86-64, we are using LLVM with our own frontends on OpenVMS Itanium. We are writing a converter between our old backend's IR and the LLVM IR. We can cross-compile (hosted on OpenVMS Itanium) and link/execute on x86-64 CentOS. At present, we pass over 88% of our C test suite. Porting starts with being able to compile the code. Since we are stuck with a
