Upgrade to 3.0.2a from 2.2.8a: Was working, no longer works
...to a new installation of
MDK 10.0 OE; what used to be a great working system no longer works;
I've checked all the configs via Webmin/Samba/Swat modules, and still,
nothing is working. Either from a windows machine or another linux
machine, no access. I've also made sure all the users were sychronised
(or at least I think I did it right) but still, no access.
Any help? I can post my smb.conf if necessary - was also wondering if
I'm missing something else...? TIA

General Samba Question
I am only starting to look at Samba for installing on
the computer network at my place of work.
At the moment the users "my documents" folder
automatically sychronises with a folder on the
network. I was wondering if this can be done with
Samba and how would i do it?
Thanks for any information

There are a solution ?
Hi:
On this particular issue, would it be possible and desirable to have
icecast wait a configurable amount of time before closing the client
connection? This means that clients could be held whilst waiting for the
source to reappear, allowing enough time for a transition.
Geoff.

NT password server problem (under heavy load)
...er for years without problems.
the samba server is included to a NT domain. the password verification is done
on the NT PDC (WINNT01) or BDC (WTS01).
since some months our 250 clients update their VIRUS definition files every
2 days at 9 o'clock. (all together at the same time, the clocks are
sychronised. not really a good idea, i know.)
with samba-2.2.3a there was a message in the log files:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2002/05/01 09:00:02, 0] rpc_client/cli_netlogon.c:(157)
cli_net_auth2: Error NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

Samba scaling
...to provide recovery in case
of a problem.
I would also reccomend that you compile them yourself using the latest
version of Gcc if poss.
I believe that there are a a few Solaris memory leak problems on older
versions of gcc.
Obviously the one major advantage you will get from doing this is nicely
sychronised password
databases, which is a major bonus. I am currently looking at LDAP for
our setup and the
Solaris extensions. Currently we have a pretty solid implementation of
Netscape Directory Server
on Solaris 7 doing the trick.
Anyway hope this helps you with your decision.
Scott.

"Ticket not yet valid" message - further info
...post to the list regarding
"Ticket not yet valid" messages in my samba logs.
I neglected to include this in my initial post - we had already
suspected clock synchronisation problems, and all of our servers (AIX
Samba server and windows clients) are all synchronised to the AD DC,
which is sychronised to an internet atomic clock in Melbourne.
And we still get the messages in our logs for the first connection
attempt of the day (either browse or drive mapping). The event and
security logs on the DC show nothing.
I have compiled 3.0.1 Samba code and will attempt to get that into
production as so...

Problems with Samba 4.5.16 - configuring a second failover AD DC and joining this to an existing domain SAMDOM
Hello I wonder if anyone here could possibly help me? I am using Samba
version 4.5.16-Debian (version information taken from sudo smbstatus) on
Raspbian and attempting to prototype some future network infrastructure
with a couple of Raspberry Pis.
So far I have sucessfully created a Samba 4 AD DC
ad1.samdom.example.com. I have successfully joined my Windows 10 dekstop
client to the SAMDOM

HTB and PRIO qdiscs introducing extra latency when output interface is saturated
...es to operate as a DiffServ core router using Linux
traffic control. The machine is a P4 2.8ghz, 512mb RAM running fedora
core 3 with the 2.6.12.3 kernel. All links and network interfaces are
full duplex fast ethernet. IP forwarding is enabled in the kernel. All
hosts on the network have their time sychronised using a stratum 1
server on the same VLAN. Below is a ascii diagram of the network.
