Ignore switch to REVERSED Polarity on channel 1, state 4
Hi, Trying to trace an asterisk hang on a production (it had to be didn't it) system. The last thing before it crashed was [Mar 16 12:32:42] DEBUG[7754] chan_zap.c: Ignore switch to REVERSED Polarity on channel 1, state 4 [Mar 16 12:54:34] DEBUG[7754] chan_zap.c: Ignore switch to REVERSED Polarity on channel 2, state 4 [Mar 16 12:54:35] DEBUG[7754] chan_zap.c: Ignore switch to REVERSED Polarity on channel 2, state 4 [Mar 16 12:55:09] DEBUG[7754] chan_zap.c: Ignore swi...

Redundant LAN routing possible?
I've been reading that it's possible to set up a system with multiple NIC to provide redundant internet connectivity such that it will switch to a secondary connection if the primary ISP fails. Is it possible in a similar way to setup redundant LAN routing? I read that it is possible to aggregate/bond multiple NIC to stackable switches that support link aggregation and redundancy. But if only simple switches are available, is someth...

Snom firmwares suck <--additional datapoint to consider
...0: http://fox.snom.com/download/snom360-5.5b-beta-SIP-j.bin I would not recommend to downgrade since you would be loosing some functionality" Changing firmware revs did not help, so that left the LAN. I looked long and hard at the LAN and it was basically narrowed down to the switches. In this smaller install, several cheapo Dlink ($30) switches de-aggregate a Cisco Catalyst switch. What I noticed was that any phone plugged direcly into the Catalyst did *not* lock up or reboot. Any phone plugged into the crap switches experienced the lockup. So now we are down to the cheap swi...

Linux bridging and cascaded switches
...ormal firewall situation, the Internet is on one side, the internal LAN on the other. Duh! But now, with a Linux bridge in the middle, the whole thing becomes one big messy LAN. So we have a scenario that looks like this: Internal---User---Core-----Firewall---Internet---Internet router Servers switch switch (Bridged) switch (and default GW for internal servers) The scenario is a little more complex than I drew above because the internal side has more than one LAN segment participating in the bridge. I''m working on a way to simula...

[IR question] Switching on pointers
Hi. First of all, some context. I'm trying to implement a new functionality in an LLVM-based compiler and I need to take various actions based on the value of a given pointer, the possible values being the addresses of various global constants. I tried to use a `switch` instruction but I encountered several problems. The "ideal switch" I'd like to have would look something like this (with way more cases): ; ModuleID = 'module' source_filename = "module" @var0 = global i32 0 @var1 = global i32 0 define...

Linksys SRW224P POE Switch
We are currently considering the Linksys POE switch for a small Asterisk office deployment. There will be no separate wiring closet to put it in. Can anybody tell me if this switch has a loud fan? Users would not be able to tolerate a loud noise close by. Otherwise we will go with a fanless desktop switch. Thanks, -- Andres

[LLVMdev] Inserting a custom switch instruction implementation in backend
Hi, in implementing a backend for a target we work on, I ended up needing to lower the switch instruction in a very specific way that is quite different from the standard llvm way with the decision trees. The custom implementation wants to get rid of the decision blocks that llvm generates between the actual cases basic blocks and the switch root block. What I do currently is basically...

OT: CentOS server with 2 GbE links to 2 GbE switches
Hi all, I am trying to come up with an architecture that has some redundancy. The idea is to hook up the two GbE LAN interfaces of a CentOS server to two Gigabit Ethernet switches. In case one switch goes down, there is a redundant path (the server is redundant too). Here is the idea: ----------- | GbE | PCs ------------| switch |------------ | | -----------...

Dtrace probes for voluntary and involuntary context switches
Hi, I am profiling some workloads for the voluntary and involuntary context switches. I am interested in finding out the reasons causing these two types of context switches. As far as I understand, involuntary context switch happens on expiration of time slice or when a higher priority process comes in. While the voluntary switch generally happens when a process is waiting for I&...

OT - odd behavior of Cisco switch
Ww just had our switch replaced with a pair of 3750G's, old and new all have 48 ports, so we now have some open ports.... Anyway, my manager was looking at issues yesterday, and discovered that for a while, off and on, from several systems on the new switches, he could see traffic between *other* servers and systems...

Any quiet 24 port POE switches out there?
I have an upcoming install which places the switch close to some employees in a quiet work environment. Can anyone recommend a quiet 24 port POE switch? The Linksys SRW224P behind me right now would be objectionable, I'm sure. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://lists.digium.com/...

Nearing my wits end....bad switch???
Grasping at straws here...is anyone using a Dell PowerConnect 2224 24-port unmanaged 10/100 switch in a deployment? I have two separate asterisk installations with bad one-way audio where the only common elements left are the Dell switches and Polycom IP-500 phones. Two different ITSPs - one location uses IAX2 to the outside world, the other SIP. Two different bandwidth providers, one SDSL 1...

LAN switches with PoE? PoE phones?
Hi all, I'm looking for recommendations on ethernet switches for a new install. Ideally would want switches with at least 24 ports, ideally with a GE uplink, and that support PoE (power over ethernet) on every port. I've seen lots of switches, and lots of "power hubs", but the combination, which makes a lot of sense, seems rare. What is ou...

[LLVMdev] Inserting a custom switch instruction implementation in backend

Which VoIP router and switch to use for medium size business
Hi everybody, What is a proper setup for a medium size business with about 20 IP phones and 20 computers. Right now they are using a regular Linksys router which we use at homes. Their switch is also a very standard switch. Now they need to put there something better and VoIP compatible. What people use out there in serious and professional VoIP installations for medium size businesses? Is there a good 24 port router with VoIP compatibility with no need of an extra switch? Please advic...

iSCSI best practices
...troduce some virtual machines which I think would work out best if I created iSCSI drives for them back on my Oracle/Sun ZFS appliance. I mentioned iSCSI to the guy whose work I have taken over here so that he can concentrate on his real job, and when I mentioned that we should have a separate switch so that all iSCSI traffic is on it's own switch, he balked and said something like "it is a switched network, it should not matter". But that does not sit right with me - the little bit I've read about iSCSI in the past always stresses that you should have it on its own network....

how can I monitor a (dumb) switch ?
Hello there, Can anyone help me with a problem i have.... I have an ethernet LAN, made over dumb fast-ethernet switches (10/100mbit) without management, so there is no IP for the switches. What I want, if possible, is to find out if a switch is down or not. It''s like with routers... if you want to find out if a router is OK, either you send ICMP directly to the router, or to a host "behind&quot...
