Random Effects Model
Hello, I am new to R, and I am trying to figure out how to use it for a random effects model. I am using version 2.4.0, and I also have the book Applied Linear Regression by Sanford Weisberg. I have four variables: Swimmer, Sex, Swim, and Difference. Swimmer identifies the number assigned to a particular person. Sex is male/female. Swim identifies the number swim from 1 to 6. Difference

Odd stemmer behavior
I've noticed some strange results from the stemmer in the Ruby port: irb(main):003:0> @stem.stem_word("anybody") => "anybodi" irb(main):004:0> @stem.stem_word("swimmingly") => "swim" irb(main):005:0> @stem.stem_word("fiercely") => "fierc" irb(main):006:0> @stem.stem_word("fraudulently") => "fraudul" Is it supposed to behave like this, or is this a bug in my Ruby wrapper? Panic / EL6 / KVM / kernel-2.6.32-754.2.1.el6.x86_64
Since the update from kernel-2.6.32-754.2.1.el6.x86_64 to kernel-2.6.32-754.3.5.el6.x86_64 I can not boot my KVM guests anymore!? The workstation panics immediately! I would not have expected this behavior now (last phase of OS). It was very robust until now (Optiplex Workstation). I see some KVM related lines in the changelog.diff. Minicom and Ncurses
Hi, I have to do some maintenance on a CentOS 7 proxy installed on a routerboard without a video card. The only way to access this machine directly is via Minicom and serial port. I'm using NetworkManager TUI (nmtui) to configure network interfaces, but Ncurses rendering in Minicom works in the sense that chickens fly and horses swim. What you get is a forest of question marks with a few

Set the foreign key constraint column name?
...y_key, which have been very useful. If I have a "foo has_one :bar" relationship, but then in the bar table my column is named "fooid" or some other thing that is not "foo_id", is there a similar helper command I can use to change it? Everything''s working swimmingly for me, except when I get to this bit and it errors out telling me "cannot find bar.foo_id" and I can''t figure out a way to point to bar.fooid and say "There it is." I tried googling around for "set foreign key constraint column name" but can''t se...

Documentation / boolean fix for oplocks = command
In the documentation the "oplocks = yes" option is give in an example, as the default for this parameter. However, I needed to turn oplocks off, and so assumed that the command "oplocks = no" would work. It doesn't, instead I found that "oplocks = false" does. There needs to be some boolean fixing done, or at least documentation should reflect this strangeness.
