SVN checkout problem
Hello I have problems with checkout using SVN. I am following instructions on page http://us2.samba.org/samba/subversion.html. First of all DNS can't resolve name svnanon.samba.org. I checked nslookup and dig on three different systems using three different providers - my office, T-Online and Litnet. DNS servers for all three providers responded that host name not found. I also got IP address from Jerry and tried to do checkout using IP address, but it was also not...

Samba 3.4.2 Installation Issue
...m having difficulty installing samba v3.2.4 on my CentOS 5 box. I've > downloaded the samba-3.2.4.tar.gz file to /usr/tmp (svn gave a timeout > so I decided to download the gz file instead). I ran tar xvzf > samba-3.2.4 to unpack it. Then I followed the directions here: > <http://svnanon.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/compil > ing.html>, beginning in the Verifying Samba's PGP Signature section. > Everything compiles and runs w/out issue. But when I run smbclient -V, > I get Version 3.0.28.el5_2.1 instead of something w/3.2.4. What could > I be do...

Problem getting share list from NetApp
We defined a share, sales_cifs_test, on our NetApp server. Note that the length of the name is longer than 13 characters. We can see the share with Microsoft Explorer. We can mount the share from Linux using smbmount. What we want to do is to get a list of shares from NetApp. The tools that can do this are the samba programs smbclient and net. Smbclient will not show names longer than 13

development mailing list?
Dear all, Is there a devel type list, as I can't see one in the mailing list section? I am trying to gather the CVS checkout info for the Samba docs to update the Samba-Guide/Happy.html section and also discuss the doc build-tree etc. Thanks. -- Kind Regards, Gavin Henry. Samba 3.0.25, trusted domains and winbindd
I have a Samba PDC in a one way trust relationship with a Windows Server 2003 DC such that Samba is the Trusting Domain. With Samba 3.0.23d I always used to leave winbindd running during a restart of smbd/nmbd. With 3.0.25, I have found that the domain "breaks" if I do this. Denote the Samba domain by SAMBA and the (trusted) Windows domain WINDOWS. When the domain "breaks",

Identically named users and groups
We have a Linux user and group with the same name (username prox, group name prox) and a Samba share with "force user = prox" set. Since upgrading from Samba 3.0.21b to Samba 3.0.23a, that share no longer works. smbclient gives the following error when connecting to the share: tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER The Samba server logs the following error: [2006/08/07 09:38:26,

Unexpected feature (success!) re Roaming Profiles
Hello list, I'm currently replacing a NT4 stand-alone with a Samba-3.0.24 implementation. I faced some tough hours trying to mimic a rather peculiar setting in the NT4 domain: some users had Roaming Profiles, while others hadn't. But this Local vs. Roam was NOT specified on the client device, but pushed from the NT4 server. So the box in User Profiles where one can usually select

Win32 services management?
Hi there, I just saw samba added the "net rpc service" for Win32 service management since 3.0.20, and it's fantastic. I used to use samba-tng to do this job, but now I can use samba! However, I also found it has limited usage. I cannot pass parameters when I start a service, and I cannot create a new service, too. Is there any plan for samba to extend this feature? -- Best

[PATCH] Pet peave then->than
This patch fixes all the incorrect uses of "then" that I could find on the whole SAMBA_4_0 branch. i.e. it is relative to svn://svnanon.samba.org/samba/branches/SAMBA_4_0 at revision 16046. winbind + samba limits with large AD?
Hi, a few months ago I tried to setup samba + winbind (debian etch, amd64, samba 3.0.24). I followed the howto and got the authentication running. But I had not much success with winbind. I disabled the user/group enumeration, but this didn't change it. A simple 'ls -l' in a directory with 10-20 files took minutes to return the list and most of the time winbindd just stopped working
