Most often pairs of chars across grouping variable
Hi list, is there a package or function to compute the frequencies of pairs of chars in a variable across a grouping variable? Eg: d <- data.frame(ID=gl(2,3), F=c("A","B","C","A","C","D")) > d ID F 1 1 A 2 1 B 3 1 C 4 2 A 5 2 C 6 2 D Now I want to summarize the frequencies of all pairs A-B, A-C, A-D, B-C, B-D, C-D

Wine desktop emulation
Hi, if you don't like to read the reason of the question, skip the blue part ;) i usually like to play older games with wine, and many of them are restricted to a screen resolution of SVGA or XGA ect. This looks of course incredibly bad on a Full HD Widescreen. Some of these games offer parameters or modes to play them in windowed mode (DiabloII, ...), some of them do only support the ALT+Return method (which doesn't seem to work in wine?), some of them do neither. Fortunately...

[fdo] How to update the xorg-server on Red Hat Linux 5
...nstall 1.7.7 on a RH5 VM. Is there a way to update the xorg-server to a higher version(1.5 or 1.6 ) I didn't find the suitable xorg binary rpm for RH5. If the cause of crash is not inside xorg-server itself, should it be in graphics driver instead? In my RH5.3 VM, video card is VMware Abstract SVGA II Adapter. Is there any way to update VMware Abstract SVGA II Adapter device driver, so xorg won't crash? I don't have much knowledge about xwindow on Linux. I just want to know how to solve the crash problem on a RH5 VM Thanks in advance! Wqh -------------- next part -------------- An...

different font and window behaviour w/ diff X servers
Hi: Like Gerard Patel mentioned on the developer's list I can confirm that Wine's behaviour _is_ now very dependant on which X server is used and to top it: also this behaviour is varying quite a bit depending on the Windows application which is run. I have font problems with XF86_SVGA on a Trident Video-107PCI (cheapy-cheapy) and not with XF86_S3 on a Diamond 2000 3D (old). The problem was mentioned here already (EmHeight=3xBodyHeight). Also there are windows (especially listboxes) problems with 16bit applications on the SVGA but not on the S3 X server. At least no show-stoppers...

The information I get with getinfo.sh has one line "VGA compatible controller [0300]: VMware SVGA II Adapter [15ad:0405]" VMware-tools worked well when I installed CentOS 5.5 for my virtual machine. What's wrong? Would you please help me? Thank you. Best Regards, Yawei

Gameplay asks for the second CD
Wing Commnader Prophecy (multiple CD's) install doesn't give any problem (due to its small pop-up format window) and the game plays well until I come to the next CD. Game grabs full screen 800x600 svga. Pop-up window for second CD appears, but I can not switch with <Alt><Tab> to desktop. What did I already try? Read lots of items on this forum :D http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=7181&sid=87c2e233ac33e4d682765103c4bb043a comes close to my problem. Started the programs in K...

[PATCH] patch to buffer write ioreq
This patch implements a new mechanism to buffer the MMIO_WRITE and PIO_WRITE packet in a queue, and then submit them to qemu-dm in batch. This could save a lot of domain switch time. We implement this as a generic one to do ioreq in batch. However, we only use it to batch the MMIO_WIRTE request for stdvga(0xA0000-0xC0000) in order to solve the win2k boot issue for hvm domain. Without this patch,

About Porting Android to nouveau
Hi, guys: I’m a developer of FydeOS. We porting ChromiumOS to amd64 and arm platforms. Now, I’m woking on porting android environment to Nvidia graphic cards. I have experience to port android to Vmware(SVGA). I found two display formats were not supported to display in nouveau driver: PIPE_FORMAT_R8G8B8A8_UNORM, PIPE_FORMAT_R8G8B8X8_UNORM. Which are defined at nv50/nv50_formats.c line: 130,131. C4(A, R8G8B8A8_UNORM, RGBA8_UNORM, R, G, B, A, UNORM, A8B8G8R8, IB), F3(A, R8G8B8X8_UNORM, RGBX8_UNORM, R,...

x86 uniprocessor 4GB memory (fwd)
If you have an AGP video card which you aren't actually using you can try selecting the minimum possible AGP apperture (window whatever) size (possibly even disable it?). This might help. Also removing the AGP card and using a junk 1-8MB svga card will also possibly work. In my experience the linear framebuffer of video cards is by far the greatest memory hog these days. Cheers, MaZe.
