[PATCH] Update SuSE Linux detection.
Update SuSE Linux detection. Up to now everything with a
/etc/SuSE-release file was treated as openSuSE. With this change SLES
based distributions such as "SUSE Linux Enterprise Server", "SUSE
Linux Enterprise Desktop" and "Novell Linux Desktop" will show up as
"sles". The 'opensuse' detection was updated to handle older openSuSE
releases as well as

Problem installing Rmpi with lam on SGI SLES9
Hi,
I've been trying here to install Rmpi on an SGI IA-64 machine with 64
processors, running SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9, R 2.4.0 and
lam-mpi 7.1.3. While I've read of similar problems on this list, I
think I've got an entirely new set of error messages to contribute
(see below). I'm not sure what the actual error is and what the @gprel
relocation message is about. Any help

[PATCH v2] appliance: use ID_LIKE as a fallback for SUSE distro detection
All SUSE distros have a ID_LIKE=suse, including the fake one used
for building that has a ID=Dummy value. Without reading ID_LIKE
on SUSE distros, the generated appliance packagelist is not correct.
This fix reads ID_LIKE as a fallback if ID contains nothing.

including R in the SuSE Linux distribution
Dear R people,
This message is not a message for help, so strictly off-topic, but I
wanted to reach as many users of R as possible. Please excuse the fact
that it is off-topic.
I use Linux, and the distribution I use is the German based commercial
distribution SuSE. SuSE prides itself on trying to be a comprehensive
distribution of free software. However, they do not include R (or for that

64 bit compilation SUSE 10.2
Greetings All,
I am attempting to compile wine under the SUSE 10.2 64 bit
distribution, and am running into a bit of
a problem.
I have installed every 32 bit library that I could find in the
distro, including the xorg-X11 libs. I ran the following commands:
./configure --prefix=/usr --x-libraries=/usr/X11R6/lib
make depend && make
The compilation chugs away for about 15 min,

Problems with port forwarding on Suse Linux 9.0
Problem: I'm trying to forward a port (say, port 25) of a SuSE 9.0 Linux
system to an external client system (in this case running RedHat 9.0).
It doesn't work, and the problem seems to be on the SuSE side.
Details

On the client system, I run (where "suse-server" is the IP address of my
SuSE server system to which I'm trying to connect)
