Samba from Sunfreeware and nss_winbind.so
Sunfreeware.com has compiled packages of Samba 3.4.2 with kerberos and
ldap support included (if you also install the ldap and kerberos
packages from sunfreeware.) However it does not include the
nss_winbind.so.* or libnss_winbind.so.* files.
Solaris does include nss_winbind.so already (since it is in...

Samba 64 bit compilation
Which platform?
If on Solaris 10 sparc, GCC (either from Sun or sunfreeware.com) should
be 64-bit by default.
GCC from Sunfreeware for Solaris 10 x86 will compile 32-bit by default.
For Solaris, you are better off using Sun Studio and Dmake. Actually,
you are better off just using the compiled version from Oracle/Sun.

Samba compilation issue
...e pkgconfig files.) I think samba 3.4.x I
have just compiled with out talloc.
Can you cat talloc.pc- make sure the config file shows the correct path.
I wonder what the significant difference is between your two solaris 10
machines. Which gcc are you using. Do either of them have the
sunfreeware versions of samba? Or the sun bundled versions of samba.
Maybe one machine already has libtalloc installed. What does "pkginfo
| grep -i samba" show? I think samba 3.0x. binaries from Sun/Oracle may
have been in /usr/sfw/bin not /usr/bin.
What is the current version of samba you...

SAMBA4 and Solaris 10 X86
hello,
I have been trying to build/get SAMBA4 alpha13/alpha11
to build on Solaris 10 Update 8 X86. I have tried to use the ./autogen-waf and the other ./autogen
and following the procedure ./configure(.developer) seems to conclude correctly,
however the actual make and make install seems to fail.
I need to make sure first, is Samba4 supported on Solaris?
thanks

OpenSSH 3.4p1 "PRNG is not seeded"
...OpenSSH 3.4p1. Starting SSHD or
ssh-keygen I'm getting the "PRNG is not seeded".
I have verified that prngd is running and "egc.pl /var/spool/prngd/pool get"
runs just fine reporting 32800 bits of entropy.
My platform is Solaris 8 (sparc) and I downloaded binaries from
www.sunfreeware.com.
My guess is the build of OpenSSH 3.4.p1 is looking for prngd in a different
location than my configuration.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can debug this?

Need help compiling Samba on Solaris
I had limited success compiling 3.4.8 and 3.5.4 on Solaris 10 8/07 x86.
I downloaded the source code from Samba.org and the dependencies from
sunfreeware.com. After some googling and trial and error with the
LDDFLAGS, CPPFLAGS and such, it sort of compiled. I need to know how to
properly set things up. How can I find out what version of dependencies
you need for a particular samba version?

Please check latest solaris package
Hi all,
I cannot decide, please help me:
http://www.sunfreeware.com/sparc/10/rsync-3.0.9-sol10-sparc-local.gz
I downloaded this package and installed. The command file rsync returned a strange message: can't read ELF header - otherwise the file itself is runnable and working.
Is there any way to check this file?
Thanks

rl_callback_read_char error on Solaris 7
This question is about compiling R-1.6.2 from source on a
Sparcstation-20 machine running Solaris 7, gcc-2.95.3 and
readline-4.2 (both gcc and readline from sunfreeware.com).
I searched the r-help archive and the FAQ. The errors seem to be
related to the binary readline libraries, and I have
/usr/local/lib/libreadline.a,libreadline.so@, and
libreadline.so.4.
The attached errors are from config.log. ./configure finds
readline header files in /usr/local/i...

Build on Solaris 8 gcc-3.1 fails make check
Dear R-help,
I am trying to build R-1.5.1 on a Sun Blade 100 (sparc).
It fails make check when var(1) returns NaN instead of NA.
Using gcc-2.95.3 from sunfreeware.com, the build succeeds and passes
make check
I have:
Solaris 8
gcc-3.1 (built on that machine from sources and installed in
/usr/local/gcc-3.1 with binaries symlink'ed to /usr/local/bin)
A synopsis is at the bottom of this message.

Problems building Samba 4.x on Solaris 9 and 10 - libintl (again)
Greetings,
Trying to get current, but having problems building samba 4.x on Solaris
9/10.
I've Been trying to build either samba 4.0.19 or 4.1.9 on Sparc boxes
running both Solaris 9 and Solaris 10. I am using gcc 3.4.6 from the
old www.sunfreeware.com site. I also have libintl 3.4.0 from them as well.
My machines are domain member servers in an Active Directory environment
run by folks that are not keen on Samba - yay for me. Currently running
Samba 3.6.24 and one box still on 3.5.8.
I have had issues in the past with Samba 3.5 and 3....

Solaris binary distribution question /usr/local
HI!
I am trying to configure the samba 2.2.7 binary from sunfreeware ( package

of /usr/local/samba for the lock files? I do not have access to
/usr/local as it is NFS mounted and shared by all Solaris 7 boxes. I can
pkgadd to a different root path, and I can -s the config file to the...

stdint.h on Solaris 7
Hi together,
here is a little success tory how I got flac 1.2.1 (ZIP from downloads
page) compiled with Solaris 7:
First of all you need a lot packages from sunfreeware.com
If you have installed the required packages you may end up with an error
that says there is no stdint.h on your system.
On an other forum I have read upgrading to Solaris 10 "fixes" this
problem but that might not being an option to many people for their
different reasons.
Well, I j...
