vorbis 1.1 rc 1 now tagged in SVN
Hi folks,
We're gearing up to the next full release of the Vorbis codec; I've
just tagged a release candidate in SVN in order to encourage wider
testing toward final 1.1 release.
This release includes the following updates:
1) Adoption of AoTuV and other tuning work by Vorbis developers
outside of Xiph into the mainline codebase
2) New bitrate management code
3) bugfixes

Streaming vorbis support
Hi!
I'm setting up a streaming audio server for the student radio here in
Stockholm.
I'm of course going to primarily use Ogg/Vorbis, but I'd like to know
how well
Ogg/Vorbis streaming is supported on different platforms. I know it works
well Windows (for example w/ recent Winamps) and Unices (XMMS, ogg123 etc.)
but I'm not so sure about other platforms, most importantly Mac-OS

Icecast source encoder that can handle http streams?
...g from the other station needlessly. It sounds like
LiquidSoap may be the way to go for me. I'm going to check it out today.

Metadata format.
Hi.
Seeing as the topic appeared a while ago I was wondering: How do people feel about adopting ID3v2 for Vorbis
aswell. This would, of course, mean it's given a stream of its own and even allow interleaving.
It could be usefull, seeing as it would cut down on both initial development and software support, since a lot
(most?) audio players already support it. It could also allow for code

Filling holes in a FLAC file from an old Vorbis file
I have a partly damaged CD, from which I extracted 192Kb/s Vorbis files
a while ago (before it got damaged) and I'd like to get FLAC files.
`cdparanoia' extracted most of the data from the CD, but there are some
holes due to the damages.
How could I fill those holes in my FLAC files using the Vorbis files?

Icecast source encoder that can handle http streams?
I need to set up an icecast server which will stream out local MP3s
sometimes and relay another internet radio station at other times. In
order to do this, it seems like the icecast relay support won't help
me - there's no way to turn that on and off without changing the
icecast config and restarting the server. The only external icecast
source app that seems to handle http

Stumbled on an FAQ error
Hi!
When surfing, I stumbled on:
I'm a music fan. Why should I be interested?
Because Vorbis provides a high-quality format for you to listen to
your music.
* For a given file size, Vorbis sounds better than MP3. This means:

quality level, but it'll take up less space
