ADS membership with Samba 3.0.4
...that we have seen so far, regarding the ADS membership, talk about winbind and NSS. My question here is, 1. Do I really need winbind or NSS since I am not maintaining any Users or Groups locally ?! 2. Is it sufficient if I get the Kerberos and sasl support to work on VxWorks ?! 'point-and-print' general questions
I have gotten 'point-and-print' working, but there are a couple small issues/questions I am trying to get my grasp around: - rpcclient print-1201 -U root%secret -c 'enumdrivers' this lists the drivers twice (I saw one other post about this, without any followup) - When adding drivers via the Windows APW, after uploading the drivers and the APW closing - are you supposed to

access 2003 clients can't print to samba 3 server (access 2000 can)
Has anyone else heard of or had any issues printing with Access 2003 to samba servers? Other office 2003 products print fine, and Access 2000 worked, but Access 2003 will not print to a samba server here. In order to get access 2003 to print, I have to change default printer to something on a windows server, and then it works? Anybody heard/seen anything? Thanks, ~ Daniel

Cannot enable "Enable advanced printing features"
Hi all. I'm trying to use Samba to replace an old Windows print server, and everything works just like a charm - almost... There's one thing, which prevents my organization from accepting this new printerserver, and that is that I'm unable to activate and save the "Enable advanced printing features" setting for the printers - this is used to allow for printing multiple

Strategy for penalising IPs with too many simultaneous sessions
Hi all, I have been trying to investigate traffic shaping in an effort to solve the "unfriendly network apps" problem on a test network. I have a basis by which I''d like to shape traffic, but studying the howto doesn''t uncover and existing qdisc that seems to fit what I would like to do. The problem I would like to address is to prevent an IP address opening 10

gateway failover with linux
Hi. I''m wondering if there''s a good way to configure a Linux firewall box to failover to a single backup server, while preserving connection state. This question has been asked before, but the latest reference I can find is from 2004, at which time Linux had no equivalent of OpenBSD''s pfsync, though Harald was said to be working on one. Did anything come of those

WinNT -> samba -> Linux -> NFS -> Solaris
I have Solaris machines that I'd like to use to gain access to SMB shared drives. I can get a Linux box to mount SMB shares via samba. I can get a Solaris box to access files on a Linux box using NFS. Can I get the Solaris box to access files on the Linux box, which actually are mounted to SMB shares using samba (smbmount) on the Linux box? Is there any documents for this? Thanks -SR

SELinux Samba Exception on EL6
We are planning to migrate to EL6 and came across this issue that I am trying to get around. Current system spec: Samba-3.5.10 Selinux-policy-3.7.19 Policycoreutils-2.0.83 Autofs-5.0.5 In EL5 we disabled selinux for samba using 'smbd_disable_trans' directive and the shares work fine. On RHEL6 I couldn't find this Boolean. Is there an alternate directive that accomplishes
