Correct remedy for winbindd sulking on 3.0.30?
Greetings, I have recently upgraded from 3.0.28a to 3.0.30 on a couple of FreeBSD 7.0 servers: one in a Windows 2000 Active Directory environment, and the other in a Windows 2003 Active Directory environment, as member servers. Everything works for a while and then winbindd goes into sulking mode. Re-starting fixes everythng for a little while. I'm guessing I've hit the winbindd bug described here: http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2008-June/141041.html What is the recommended resolution? 1. Apply the patch included in the post referenced above? 2. Apply a different patch?...

I was working for an ISP at the time and got none of this. Nothing happened. I don't even recall

Aptitude vs. apt
Hi all, I need to write an aptitude provider for Debian. How should it differ from apt? Can I just s/apt/aptitude/g, or do I need to do something else? Any other weird behaviours I should look for or whatever? I''ll make it a subclass of apt (and since Deb seems to specify aptitude as the default now, maybe apt should subclass aptitude), so any dpkg answerfile work should work on

control panels, like or dislike?
When I first started using webservers I leased shared hosting. Then I moved to vps. Then to dedicated. In all that I was with various control panels. In almost all cases bugs in those control panels would cause all sorts of issues. (ensim, cpanel, plesk). The load on the server seemed greatly increased (especially with ensim). When I built my first server 4 years ago I decided to heck with

Marginal write performance & pauses in outgoing transfers - Possible bug
Hello everybody, I have a FreeBSD 4.8-STABLE server running Samba 2.2.8a and a workstation running Windows 2000 SP4. Whereas FTP transfers between these boxes average 700 KB/s (10 mbps LAN) in both directions, Samba transfers are exhibiting this odd behavior: Windows 2000 --> Samba = 700 KB/s (perfect) Samba --> Windows 2000 = 100 KB/s (terrible, inconsistent, with LONG pauses) Trust me,
