I have a user who was having problem accessing samba. So I suggested him to try to login from other system to see if it's problem with his pc or his account. Then he found that when he used other person's PC, it didn't ask for password at all and gave full access to his account! The two person's accounts are totally different. Any idea? Thanks. --

Yet Another LDAP Question
Hi All, I know this must have been discussed around here a million times, but I really didn't find this info anywhere else and I'm on a deadline here. I already have an FC1 server with a working LDAP directory in production. The same server runs a Samba PDC, but not with LDAP functionality yet. All I need to know right now is if I have to include some standard user and group

ppp interfaces for both loc and net
Hi, I''m in a process of setting up a firewall system, which is going to be also an ipsec/l2tp and pptp vpn server for some mobile clients. The problem is, that the system has two ISPs a cable one (no problems here) and a DSL provider. Because of the DSL provider the system is going to have one pppN interface for DSL (net zone) and many pppX interfaces for l2tp/pptp (loc zone)

password ldap clarification requested...
Dear list, I would like to know if the following statements are true, just to make sure that my understanding of passwords/ldap stuff is correct... Vampireing passwords from an nt4 pdc only populates the ldap server with windows passwords, and not the (linux) userPassword. Authenticating linux logons against this ldap server is therefore only possible using winbind. 'Normal' ldap

BDC problem!? user can't get profile/map drive
Hello: I have set up a PDC using Samba 3.0.11 with openldap 2.2.23. I have set up a BDC as well (the smb.conf is same as those on PDC except the nebios name as "BDC" and the domain master is set as "no"). Then I try to shut down my PDC to check whether the client login through the BDC. I found that my client (on Window NT) are able to authenticated by BDC, but it keeps

DomU 2TB vbd limit?
Hi everyone, Just a quick question: Is there a limit on the vbd size for pv guest domains, I''ve found only rumors on the Internet about a 2TB limit, but from my experience with xen-3.0.3 /linux-kernel-2.6.18-5 (installed from a debian etch packages) I can say that a lvm volume of 3.7TB as created and formated in Dom0 is seen as 1.85TB only of course reporting a corrupted xfs filesystem

The Apples and Windows XP machines already grab shared data via Samba and the remaining data is exported to the Linux machines via NFS. I am in the process of migrating the existing authentication system from XYZ123 to Kerberos and going to place user data---with the exception of passwords

I'm trying to config a Linux box to integrate into a windows network using pam_smb and samba. Ive set it up so that using pam_smb I can get the user to log onto the linux desktop with their NT id and password. The only problem is once the user is logged on they need to be able to access shared resources disk, printers etc... without the need to reauthenticate to the domain, i.e. use a cache
