Samba joins win2k domain but can't authenticate
...join my win2k domain without any problems. But if I change the config to read security=domain it prompts the user for a username and password. If I change it to security=server it does not prompt for user names. I did some searching in the list came up with a few emails and this website http://www.sugoi.org/bits/index.php?bit_id=10 but still no change. In the /etc/host file I put the pdc name and address and made sure I could ping it by name. Using Freebsd 4.7 and Samba 2.2.6. I have rebooted the client and the PDC and also stopped and started samba a few times. Any help would be appreciated, and...

Samba getting user info from NT PDC
Hi! My boss asked me to be able to share some directories on a FreeBSD Samba server with users already created (and used) on a NT 4.0 PDC server. So I followed http://www.sugoi.org/bits/index.php?bit_id=10 I just replaced the Windows 2k part by adding the NetBIOS name of the machine to the NT PDC. So i built the latest version of wine, 0.9.20, after patching it with the SetThreadPriority patch. There was a reject

Win2k Client <-> Samba Server
.../var/log/samba/nmbd.log file as shown below - it would appear that the client is still trying to authenticate against the BIZ domain (in particular, notice the WINS registration requests for BIZ, which the Samba server choses to ignore). I've followed the standard procedures per http://www.sugoi.org/bits/index.php?bit_id=33 - i.e. a machine group exists, a user account for the machine exists, and the machine has been added to the smbpasswd file, but to no avail. Any help on solving this puzzle would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! P.S. I've also included a dump from testparm follo...
