People,
I have been thinking at this for long time and I do not know
if SQLite is sufficient for my application.
I developed an inventory system in Rails -v 2.2.2 and I do
not know if SQLite is the best choice or if is neccesary have a bigger
database engine than SQLite..
This site will not has thousand and thousand records or
visits each day so I think with SQLite could

R/S and large datasets - Database access (also Re: SAS and S/R)
...tly under development, and
which I don't know a thing about.
So the question is : do the Rdbi interface offers such a proxy to data
still residing in databases ?
Or am I barking up the wrong tree and trying to (re-)invent an
oversophisticated virtual memory manager ? SShould the use of a
suficiently large swapfile be enough for these "large dataset" problems ?

Hi Denis,
Thank you for the insights.
We have recently updated to version 4.20.5, so unfortunately, we don't have
access to the new debug tool you mentioned. Given this, we are considering
alternative actions to prevent potential DDOS caused by the proxy querying
the Global Catalog for security groups and retrieving user profiles to

Windows XP Profiles
Hi,
I just recently installed Windows XP on one of the
computers in my network (previously all Windows 98) which
uses Samba as a Primary Domain Controller. After making
the required changes for adding machine accounts, I am able
to log on using Samba as a PDC. My question is how to get
profiles working the way I want them to.
I would like profiles to be stored locally and

mysterious warning message regarding bytecode...
While running a long script which source()s other scripts I get the
following warning:
Warning message:
In t(object$S[[1]]) : bytecode version mismatch; using eval
I cannot replicate it if I run the sourced files line by line though...
What is that error? And do I care about it? It doesn't seem to
affect my output as far as I can tell.
Thanks!

Samba + OpenLDAP: LDAP server is running but could not respond to a search request
Hi, all. I am trying to set up SAMBA PDC with OpenLDAP using smbldap-tools
from IDEALX. This is on a SLES 9 and I had run the latest online update as
well as SP1 and SP2 for it.
At this point smb is off and ldap is running.
I have gotten up to where I needed to test for:
ldapsearch -x -b "dc=sample,dc=com" "(ObjectClass=*)"
# extended LDIF

# LDAPv3

subshares ?
hi all...
i have what seems a simple question regarding subshares, for lack of a better term...
say i have a share with specific user/group permissions and a directory inside the share that i would like to add different user/group permissions...
this is an example of my smb.conf file to illustrate
[driveA]
path = /samba/driveA
browseable = Yes
writeable = Yes
valid users = PDC+groupA

splitting vorbis files
Greetings
The Unix application 'wavsilence' is a program that takes a WAV file with
gaps of silence and creates smaller WAV files, containing the data between
the gaps. ( http://danplanet.com/wav/ )
Is there a similar program for ogg vorbis?
How difficult would it be to write such a program?

Secure delete?
Hi all
Is it possible to securely delete a file from a zfs dataset/zpool once it''s been snapshotted, meaning "delete (and perhaps overwrite) all copies of this file"?
Best regards
