Hints stopped working suddently
Hello,
I've had Asterisk and Polycom phones work perfectly with hints for the last
6 months. Suddently, I realize they've stopped working in the last few
days. I haven't changed the configuration in any way.
I have hints setup (CLI "show hints" does show the hints, and they seem
correct). But when I do dial using one of the SIP registrations, I don't
see those hints being...

Asterisk 1.6.1.6 suddently restarts ...
Hi,
In dev-list, some people reported Asterisk 1.6.2-rc2 would suddenly restart.
Here, a platform running 1.6.1.6 is also suddenly restarting (once or twice
a day with moderate load (40 users)).
I don't have much details to report here at the moment.
Has someone met something similar ?
Thoughts ?
Regards

suddent random problem with Windows boxes
Hello all,
I am not a Samba expert by any means, so please bear with me if I make a fool
of myself.
We run a small network in this office. There is a Windows domain running off
of a Debian Linux server, running Linux 2.4.25. There are mostly Windows
2000 and Windows XP machines, but there are still a few users clinging on to
Windows 98 (this is because they run specialized testing software

Dovecot dies, maybe ntpdate related. I'm new to dovecot
Hi all, my first post.
After years with an old server, a couple of months ago I've installed a
new one.
We use IMAP. After research, I chosed dovecot.
It has been running for several weeks but from one week ago or so, it
suddently dies about once per day.
The only change done in the server one week ago has been to install
ntpdate, running once per day in cron-daily.
In the cron reports, ntpdate reports a time-jump of 9 seconds each
night. We did this because "apparently" we did not a "soft time drift"...

order of network interfaces in domU messed up?
...ached to xenbr1.
Now i upgraded to Xen 3.0.4.
Not it must read:
vif = [ ''bridge=xenbr1'', ''bridge=xenbr0'' ]
And i''m not even quite sure, that the order of the network-interfaces is
really deterministic. Actually, the old config worked on first try. And
suddently didn''t. Then i debugged and now it only works with inverted order.
Any idea, what''s going on?
Thanks,
Sven Köhler

My domain member file server can't connect to domain controllers
My friends:
My samba file server have been working well for a year up to yesterday,
when It stopped suddently. It was on a debian vz container (Proxmox
3.4). The first problem was a root user with quota exceeded and I
couldn't get domain users using "wbinfo -u". I got out quota
restrictions from the container but I can't still use wbinfo. Then, when
I try to use "net ads join -...

Write to ext3 fs -> kjournald goes bananas
Hello,
we have just observed a rather annoying behavior one of our servers.
Specifically, when writing data to a file on an ext3fs filesystem at
around 1.5 MB/sec, network connectivity suddently started to show
signs of lag.
The ping would spike up to ~1 second every 5 seconds or so. This affects
the server in question and all hosts routing traffic through it (i.e.,
it's not a userland-only problem).
When this happens, the load skyrockets (> 10 on an otherwise mostly idle
server)...

Sangoma A200 4 port FXO card suddenly stopped answer on channels 2, 3, 4
...card doesn't disconnect hung up calls immediately, which I
posted about in another thread, and has still not been fixed),
however, I had a call from one of our clients today and they
complained that our phone system kept ringing through when they
called.
It turns out that the Sangoma card had suddently decided to stop
answering on channels 2,3 and 4, so if someone was using channel 1,
then no other calls would be picked up. We could, however, make
outgoing calls. I tried restarting Asterisk and it didn't make a
difference. I then tried restarting the Wanrouter and it started
working again....

What is this error message? (check_auth: stale nonce received from ...)
I`ve been noticing alot of those messages in the CLI lately:
Apr 5 11:18:02 NOTICE[25593]: chan_sip.c:6444 check_auth: stale nonce
received from '<sip:reg-1@pbx.domain.com>
I haven't changed my configuration in ages. What could be the cause of this

Prevent total volume size reduction
...up to the size of the smallest brick.
Now, I had a problem on my setup, long story short, an LVM bug has
forcibly unmounted the volumes on which my bricks are running, while
gluster was being used. The problem is that instead of having a 8TB file
system mounted on /mnt/bricks/vmstore the server suddently found an
empty /mnt/bricks/vmstore pointing on / of this server (20GB)
After 3 hours during which Gluster complained about missing files on
node1 (but continuing to serve files from node2 transparently), it
decided to start healing from the correct node to this empty
/mnt/bricks/vmstore on the...

BeroNet HFC-4S card is now detected as only 2 ports
Hello list,
After upgrading from BRIstuff 1y-b to 1y-e my ISDN card is suddently
detected as 2 ports instead of 4.
I still load the driver as "modprobe qozap ports=12" as I've always
done. But now it only sees 2 ports.
Output of "lspci -vvv"

Re: [PATCH v2v] v2v: Set the number of vCPUs to same as host number of pCPUs.
...s is not a good idea, for few reasons:
a) it unconditionally uses all the available CPUs with no way to change
it to any other value
b) virt-v2v is run also on systems that are not specifically dedicated
as conversion servers, for example the oVirt hosts (that run the oVirt
VMs); in this context, suddently using more CPUs than requested may
saturate the system resources
IMHO the right approach is to add a --smp N option like available in
other libguestfs tools; this way, the user can decide how many
resources virt-v2v can use.

What could cause an "unclean shutdown" of process?
...8/28 17:38:22.509499, 3] printing/pcap.c:189(pcap_cache_reload)
reload status: ok
I don't see anything that catches my eye in the other logs (log.nmbd,
log.<client_name>, log.<client_IP>, log.winbindd). The log.<client_name>
shows a very long list of transactions that stops suddently at the time of
the 'unclean shutdown'.
Do you have any idea what could cause this 'unclean shutdown'? What would
be the best way to further diagnose this problem? I've looked into the
servers' log without noticing anything strange?
Thank you very much for your help,
Frede...

Samba Version 4.1.9-Zentyal (Zentyal4.0) is using a lot of RAM memory to crash
I have been using two Zentyal 4.0 domain controllers for a long time.
3Gb of RAM each one and working okay. I have not updated them from
Internet and my users are the same. Suddently, the first DC began to
comsume memory to the top.
I detected that samba processes are the responseble of this behavior.
More processes with more memory come on. They get more and more memory
in such a way that the server crash in one day. If I add more memory
size (5Gb) to this
virtual machine it...

Machine failing to keep its trust with Domain Controller
Hi,
We have a Linux (RHEL 3.0, update 3) Samba 3 server which worked fine
for months
but suddently have trouble to keep its trust with the DC server.
The only way to recover is to reset the machine account from the Windows
DC side
and do a "net join" to the domain from the Linux side. The Linux machine
is able to
keep its "trust" with the domain exactly 7 days, which, AF...
