best way to remove samba and winbind from system ? Including not so obvious
files that are spreaded throughout the system.
As an epilogue I must really express my deepest respect to the Samba Team
and whole community about sucha groundbreaking work.

Newbie needs help
To all:
I am running FreeBSD v7.03 and using icecast2 which is happily relaying
a shoutcast MP3 stream. I want to play (mix)a pre-recorded "Stream ID"
file to the existing stream once per hour.
I've tried ices0 but no luck. Any help will be much appreciated.

many days remain until password expiration.
Parameters
UserName Specifies the user's name whose password is to be checked.
Message Points to a pointer that the passwdexpired subroutine allocates
memory
for and fills in. This string is suitable for printing and issues messages,
suchas in how many days the password will expire.
Return Values
Upon successful completion, the passwdexpired subroutine returns a value of
0.
If this subroutine fails, it returns one of the following values:
1 Indicates that the password is expired, and the user must change it.

Note that as far as I know, Ices0 can't be told to stream a file once and
then exit. Ezstream can though and is probably more light-weight for sucha
simple thing.
And as has been pointed out, you need to make sure all your stream
parameters are the same for this to work with MP3 streaming (and presumably
AAC as well - I've not used it). Ogg Vorbis will cope much more
gracefully.
I use a three tear setup along these lines where I work...

spawning smbd daemon
Hello,
Does anyone have problem with spawning smbd daemon (own by root)?
I thought there should be only one smbd daemon running that is owned by root
and any other smbd should be owned by users who is using Samba services.

JACK compatible SIP/IAX client (related : Asterisk JACK application)
Hello list,
I'm looking for a SIP/IAX client that would hook its audio on the JACK
audio server on the client host.
I first tried to use the Asterisk JACK application, installing an
Asterisk instance on the client host, but I got mitigated results : the
host runs a RT kernel (necessary for my use of JACK) but each time a new
call is started, it triggers Xruns. Not good. Also, during the call,

Sieve fileinto a subfolder fails
I'm using Dovecot 1.0.10 on Ubuntu 8.04, using the packages from the
distro; exim4 is my MTA and it's configured according to the
instructions in the wiki, everything is working fine for delivery into
the Maildir INBOX via Dovecot's LDA and reading mail via IMAP using
Thunderbird.
My habit on previous mail systems was to create a Lists folder and
subfolders under Lists for each

Installing a new VM on a xen box.
HW = HPQ DC7700 DuoCore 1.8GHz, 4 x 2GB RAM, 1 x 1TB SATA (AHCI)
OS = CentOS-5.2 ix_64 (xen)
I am experimenting with Xen and with virtual machines in general for the
first time. In consequence I have many questions. However, the one that
I wish answered at the moment is simple:
Given a DVD containing the CentOS-5.2_Final (i386) distribution mounted at
/media/CentOS_5.2_Final on Dom0, what

custom puppet facts
I have written a custom puppet fact using a ruby script. It is very simple
- it just adds a string to a fact. However I have written a module but it
appears to me that the custom fact has been applied to all my machines
without me specifying any node definitions. When I run a puppet agent
--test --noop, I see the custom fact appear in /var/lib/puppet/lib/facter.

Different average bitrates on different machines
I am using OggEnc v0.8 (libvorbis rc2) (win32 cli)
I have access to two machines
Pentium 3 450mhz, 192mb, Windows 2000 (SP2)
Athlon 1400mhz, 256mb, Windows 2000 (SP2)
When I encode the same wave file on each machine at the same nominal
bitrate (96kbps), I get output files with different average bitrates.
107kbps on the Athlon, as opposed to 84kbps on the Pentium 3.
