temp name for destination directory, move in place after successfull complete?
Hello everyone, In --link-dest/--copy-dest/--compare-dest modes, I'd like to distinguish between destination directories that have been completely rsynced and the ones that are only partially synced because of a network failure. In short, I'd like to mimic the behaviour rync has on individual files (building them as .filename-random and then renaming them to filename) for the whole

After successfull passwordless ssh login, unable to do rsync
Hello everybody. I got a strange problem, which I hope to solve with your help. I'm doing "remote backups" using rsync in an ssh tunnel. In the last setup I realized, something is driving me crazy and I can't find *what* the problem is. I managed to successfully login via ssh in a "passwordless" way (by means of RSA-keys). After this step is done and I'm logged

Remote port forwarding problems
I've been trying to get remote port forwarding to work between redhat 6.2 boxes using openssh 2.2.0p1. One box is running the stock kernel, the other is running 2.4.0-test9 currently. The command I type is: ssh -v -R 8080:localhost:8080 <remote machine> I've also used the machine name and ip address for the local machine. The -v shows these curious messages: debug: read DSA

Howto create hd image with bootable (Free)DOS system
Hello, I have to update the BIOS of several hundreds of geographically distributed PCs. Since we are using PXELINUX for years to install the OS (Linux) on this PCs PXELINUX is my first choice for doing this job. The vendor of this PCs provides a bootable ISO image for the update. Because of the size of the firmware it is not possible to use a FD image (not even 2.88MB). But in the documentation

I have tried to configure an ftp server on one of my machines, I want to all authenticated users to be able to upload files to the apache web root /var/www/html. This machine is behind a firewall/router and will not be exposed to the outside world. I want to know if someone can point me to a good tutorial on setting up one of these servers, I have read the man pages and googled for possible
