convert non-standard mbox to maildir
...import option also barfs when it's not even half-way through the PST. So, I took aid4mail and it converted the PST to mbox wihtout any problem. But now, I have a directory structure, filled with mbox mailboxes. Like: INBOX INBOX/mailbox INBOX/subfolder INBOX/subfolder/mailbox INBOX/subfolder/subsubfolder INBOX/subfolder/subsubfolder/mailbox INBOX/subfolder2 INBOX/subfolder2/mailbox etc. This differs from normal mbox setup, but given the fact that there are both folders AND messages below inbox, this is indeed the only useful way to do it. But now I cannot convert this to maildir using either d...

Maildir + Evolution
...maildir format with Dovecot 0.99.10p2 (from OpenBSD packages collection) and connect to it from Evolution 1.4 using IMAP, Evolution displays subfolders incorrectly. It actually does not show any subfolders, only root folders with names like "Folder.Subfolder" and "Folder.Subfolder.Subsubfolder". There's no such problem when using traditional mailboxes. Is this an Evolution bug or one of Dovecot's? I had thought the IMAP protocol should act the same no matter which mail dir structure was used... -- Mikko Kortelainen mkortela at cc.hut.fi

Slightly OT : Maildir format (silly) questions
...style From_ line, without any >From quoting, and without an extra blank line at the end." which may sound silly since we lose an important piece of information. Same question about the motivation in Courrier (Maildir++) for emulating a hierarchy for subfolders (like in .folder.subfolder.subsubfolder) instead of (note : I know about layout=FS, I'm not talking about that) implementing a real filesystem hierarchy. I understand dovecot kept those for compatibility reasons but I'd like to know what was the authors of thoses specs thinking when deciding this. Thanks -- Thomas Hummel...

win2K migration
Dear All, I am trying to migrate a win2k file server to a linux box running samba. The folder structure on the win2k server has as follows: topfolder1 +------subforder1 +--------subsubfolder1 +--------subsubfolder2 +------subfolder2 +--------subsubfolder3 +--------subsubfolder4 etc All users on the win2k box map the "topfolder1" so when they open the win explorer they can see the folder st...

Problem with vignette compilation during R CMD check
...to quit or <RETURN> to proceed, or enter new name. (Default extension: tex) ! Emergency stop. <read *> l.262 \input{../latex.ref/optimbase-package.tex} ^^M ! ==> Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced! It appears the sub-folder optimbase.Rcheck/inst was stripped from the subsubfolder /latex.ref (which is now located in optimbase.Rcheck/optimbase/), which explains why PDFLatex complains. How should I structure my package source so I don't get this error message? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Sebastien [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Right-management Bug?
...only act as a file server - so we installed it on a patched debian with XFS and ACL-support (samba was also compiled with ACL-support). What we did and why we did it : We have a lot of different ACLs for folders. Our first problem was, that there were different ACLs for folders, their subfolders, subsubfolders and so on. We often had the problem that user A shouldn?t read the files in Folder A but should have write-access to subsubfolder C. The situation was a bit tricky because I couldn?t use shares (it would need over 200) so I solved it that way: I created groups that were able to change into the s...

ACL plugin: k permission and sub-subfolders
...tor is "/": $ cat folder owner lrwstie Note: no "k" permission ("k" = create = Mailboxes can be created under this mailbox) Seems to work: a001 create "folder/subfolder" a001 NO Permission denied But: a002 create "folder/subfolder/subsubfolder" a002 OK Create completed. This is unexpected. Creating a subfolder is not allowed but a sub-subfolder is permitted? If this is intentional, the description in the wiki should mention this. And: How to disallow the creation of any subfolders and any sub-subfolders? Using "folder/....

Manually creating folders from terminal
I'm trying to use a script to create a mailbox structure. I'm aware that the structure should look like: ~/.maildir/.INBOX/{cur,tmp,new} ~/.maildir/.INBOX.Subfolder1/{cur,tmp,new} ~/.maildir/.INBOX.Subfolder2/{cur,tmp,new} ~/.maildir/.INBOX.Subfolder2.Subsubfolder1/{cur,tmp,new} ... I have tried manually making those directories and using the "maildirmake.dovecot" command that my system has. I feel that in the past, folders I have made this way worked. However, now none are showing up in my clients. In Thunderbird, they aren't even listed...
