Apple Mail and subfolders
Hi all, does anybody here use MacOS (Catalina) Mail, who can confirm that subfolders (i.e. folders inside folders) work for them? It seems that I cannot create/access Maildir subfolders at all. Subfolders created in Mail show up as '.folder\2esubfolder' on disk, suggesting that Apple Mail is URL-coding the dot separator before it passes it onto Dovecot. No such transla...

header-lines of subfolders have to be rescanned after each client startup
Hi all, after each startup of my different mail clients (thunderbird, outlook, ...) the contents of subfolders if I click in has to be renewed. This takes some time for large folders. I just migrated from courier. And there all subfolders were available immediately. Is there something to configure? Another effect regarding subfolders is that the client forgets, which subfolders were opened after shutdow...

Subfolders problem
I have moved from dovecot 1.x to 2.x and I have big problem with subfolders. When I'm moving subfolder with other subfolders is moving only main subfolder, without subfolders, example : mail-storage-1 /var/vmail/home/adamskitest/mdbox/mailboxes # find | egrep -e "janusz|jarek" ./jarek ./jarek/dbox-Mails ./jarek/dbo...

with mbox format doveadm ignores subfolders of inbox
Hello. After we switched the format from mbox to mdbox on our dovecot (version 2.1.9) servers last week, some of our users were missing the subfolders of their inboxes. So far we thought that with the mbox format it is not possible to have mail folders containing both messages and subfolders. Now we know that there is one exception from this rule: the inbox. With mbox format dovecot supports subfolders of the inbox, and a few of our users...

unexpected subfolder locaton in Maildir/.INBOX.subfolder
.../.subfolder already exists if I connect to imap://user at host/INBOX.subfolder I get "folder not found" if I do a imap directory listing (raw mutt config, no subscriptions) - I see "../" - If I navigate to "../" I se all my existing subfolders if I create a new folder via imap the folder is created in Maildir/.INBOX.new_subfolder I expect the creation of Maildir/.new_subfolder This doesn't fit to the client configs and if I move the existing folders it doesn't fit to existing delivery agent filters and settin...

Copying just the folders to new Dovecot server?
I am setting up a new Dovecot server and I want to start from scratch, i.e. with an empty mailbox. But I want to have the same folders in my new mailbox that I have in my old. Is there a way to create these folders without manually creating one by one? Subfolders with Thunderbird and maildir?
...#47;test_manual_subfolder; touch ~/mail_test_subfolder/blah" and then subscribing to it. That's too much work. :) Now when I try to create a subfolder of a non-inbox folder, nothing happens (not even an error). Screen shot: http://img452.imageshack.us/my.php?image=subfoldersthunderbird15ao6.png The Dovecot system is Fedora Core 5 x86 and an NFS client for /home. I'm considering switching from Trustix, UW-IMAP, and mbox. I'm also considering changing INBOX to a Maildir (not /var/spool/mail/%u). Andrew

Binc IMAP "IMAPdir" style layout
...er/subfolder' respectively. This gives me two features that I want: 1) The ability to easily access all my mail using a command line Maildir capable client such as nail, for when I'm connection over a super-slow SSH over GPRS connection. Also, I can actually see my folders (and their subfolders) without having to look for Maildir++ style names with 'ls -a' (e.g. Maildir/.subfolder/). 2) Mail folders are organized logically, unlike the standard Maildir++ layout where everything is a subfolder of 'INBOX', which strikes me as stupid. Is such a thing possible with Do...

Creating IMAP folders/subfolders with Thunderbird
Hi, I have dovecot-2.2.15 on fedora21 with Thunderbird and having some difficulty creating subfolders and deleting folders. Creating subfolders results in a folder at the root with a caret instead of a slash called folder^subfolder with an entry in .subscriptions with that name, instead of a new folder under the directory. I'm also unable to delete any folders. The command from within Thun...

Maildir + Evolution
I don't know if this is an Evolution bug or not, but when I use the maildir format with Dovecot 0.99.10p2 (from OpenBSD packages collection) and connect to it from Evolution 1.4 using IMAP, Evolution displays subfolders incorrectly. It actually does not show any subfolders, only root folders with names like "Folder.Subfolder" and "Folder.Subfolder.Subsubfolder". There's no such problem when using traditional mailboxes. Is this an Evolution bug or one of Dovecot's? I had thought the IMA...

Sub-Sub-Subfolders not shown after converting from maildir to mdbox
Hi again, I just recognized a problem concerning subfolders after converting from maildir to mdbox. Thunderbird and SeaMonkey don?t show folders that are subfolders of subfolders. ACL plugin: k permission and sub-subfolders
Hi, I'm trying to disallow the creating of subfolders for some special folder for all users. Using ACL plugin for this seems to work at first glance but is not a full solution or is buggy as it allows the creation of sub-subfolders. I'm using the following ACL and namespace separator is "/": $ cat folder owner lrwstie Note: no &qu...

Weird sub-folder error
Hi, I?m running dovecot 2.2.13 and I ran into a weird problem. A user migrated his mailboxes by letting users copy them from their old server to the new one through their MUA. All that went fine except for one very weird instance. The user is running Outlook 2010. The user has a sub-folder structure which dovecot places as dotted names beneath the Inbox. (E.g. Maildir/.my.sub.folders).

INBOX subfolders not showing up
Hi, I have a problem with INBOX subfolders and subscriptions which I can't solve... Maybe somebody has seen this, too... I can create regular subfolders (not in INBOX) and (un-)subscribe to them with Thunderbird. If I create subfolders in the INBOX with TB this seems to work now in v31 (just found this out), but with v24.6 neither...
