Latex question
Dear all, This may not be the right place for latex questions, but I do not know where else to ask the question. I have two subfigures. I want the first subfigure to have a caption on the side of it and the second subfigure to have a caption below it. Thank you. Hannah [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

How to navigate in layout() created graph?
Hi I created a complex layout with using layout() and it looks exactly as I need it. But I don't want to print in the order in which the subfigure are numbered, but in a different order. How can I navigate in the layout so that I can specify the subfigure in which to plot? At the moment I am using a function which is converting the number to mfg parameter for par, but it does not seem to work as expected. Thanks, Rainer -- Rainer M. K...

Figures in Latex
Hi all, I want to add 6 plots in the format of 2 columns and 3 rows as one figure in latex. The plots are in .eps file. I know how to add 2 plots side by side, but could not figure out how to do multiple rows. I know this may not be the right place to ask such a question. But I do not know who to ask, so just try my luck here. Thank you in advance.

R_WinEdt question
if I want to put fig1plot to the left, figYPplot to the right figYAaplot on the bottom. How to modify the following cod to do these? \begin{figure}[H] \centering \begin{minipage}[t]{0.5\textwidth} \centering <<label=fig1plot,fig=TRUE,echo=FALSE>>= <<fig1plot>> @ %\caption{Caption 1} \end{minipage} \begin{minipage}[t]{0.5\textwidth} \centering

Quantitative analysis of non-standard scatter plots.
Hi, I am having difficulties in finding ways to analyse scatter plots and quantitatively differentiate between them. Since this is best demonstrated by a figure, I have attached one with 4 subfigures (a)-(d). Qualitatively (and I hope you would agree with me), sub-figures (a), (b), and (d) seem to represent uniform 2d scatters. It is hard for me to quantify it, but it seems as if the envelopes (max values of y-axis) are independent of the values of the x-axis. Sub-figure (c), on the other hand...

Setting the width and height of a Sweave figure
...1) x11(width=14,height=7) to create a new window and set the size of the window automatically if no device is open. This works fine in interactive mode but I don't know how Sweave gets the parameters for the figures, and right now the default behavior causes this figure to be square and the subfigures becomes not no square, making them look silly. I want a general solution so my function can be used in both interactive mode and in a sweave file. Thanks, Henrik Andersson --------------------------------------------------------- <<>>= myfun <- function(){ if(dev.cur()==1) x11(...

simple plotting question
...: par("mar"=c(0,0,0,1), mfrow=c(4,4)) for (i in 8:23) { image(xx$ttt[2*(128:1),2*(128:1),i,1],axes=F,col=gray(0:15/15)) } but I get a margin to the right of every plot. Any ideas? This is usually not a problem for me because I make each plot separately, but the journal requires no subfigures. Many thanks and best wishes, Ranjan

contourplot:how to get it to label all contours like 'contour'
Hi, one of the nice things about contour is that it labels all contour lines. contourplot only labels each particular elevation a single time. i.e., if there are two contour lines corresponding to z = 45, it will only label one of them. is there a way to get contourplot to automatically label all the contour lines, even those that are repeated? i ask because i want to plot contour plots *w/

little subplot in corner
I want to draw a little subplot ("overview") into my detailed plot. It should be placed in say the top right corner and have the size of some legend (like legend(x="topright", inset=0.03, ...) #main plot plot(rnorm(100)) #give little density in corner plot(seq(-2,2,length=300),dnorm(seq(-2,2,length=300)),type="l") I don't want something like par(mfrow=c(1,2)) as

how to label two figures in the same chunk independently with knitr
Dear R helpers, I am using knitr to run analysis with R and edit my document with Latex. I am wondering whether there is a way to include 2 or more pictures per chunk and being able to refer them in the text independently and eventually whether it is possible to give them different captions. Let me give you an example.Rnw: \documentclass{article} \title{Example} \author{FS} \begin{document}

Adding LaTeX cross-references into Sweave plots
Hi all I'm using Sweave and LaTeX, and love how they interact. But here's a different interaction I'm not sure how to achieve; I hope someone can help. I use a simple example, of course, to demonstrate. Suppose in my LaTeX document I have this: Here is a linear equation: \begin{equation} y = -1 + 3 x \label{EQ:example} \end{equation} This appears in the final product
