Stupid newbie question
...me"=>"Condiments", "parent_id"=>"1"},
"commit"=>"Create"}
How do I reference that subelement in the receiving script? I''ve tried
params[:parent_id]
params[:category[:parent_id]]
both unsuccessfully. I told you this was a stupid question. So how do I
get at those values?

failsafe against "stupid" / careless users
I'm admin on a samba PDC with 150 users, and as normal users they are quit
"stupid". This means that they ofte deletes something that shouldnt have
been deleted. And I find it anoying to restore their files from tapebackup.
So would it be possible to get samba to "move" files instead of deleting
them? This way I could allocate a disk to store deleted files for a pe...

Asterisk dual contexts stupidity
So I have my extensions.conf
(http://www.infiltrated.net/exten.stupidity.conf) shortened
in case someone wants to look. Has someone encountered the following?
I've racked my
brain on this for too long...
I have two contexts, day and night...
Caller (Daytime) --> Dials an extension --> Caller hears extension ring

imaps tls/ssl and stupid clients
...nicely. I have now tried to enable ssl/tls for myself and other
inhouse users which also works fine. But the problem is that I use an
uncertified certificate. Which is not a problem for kmail, as it just pops up
a box asking whether I want to accept the certificate or not. But apparently,
some stupid email programs used by other people just hang up on an
uncertified certificate. I have figured out that
ssl_disable = yes
is the critical setting. If it's set everything works, if not, then all
services allow tls/ssl and the stupid clients choke on it. Since others just
use pop3 I wonder w...

Stupid hold music
Does anyone have a collection of stupid hold music? Y'know, the sort of
thing that would drive a person mad? Silly songs, repetative tunes etc?
The best I can come up with is;
I know a song that drives everyone up the wall
I know a song that drives everyone up the wall

Module Versioning... and other things

My understanding is that isolinux.bin and ldlinux.bin are pretty much
twins[1]. If I understand correctly, you'd like the latter to be tacked
onto the former because people are too stupid to put both on the ISOs
that they are too stupid to anticipate might have USB disks derived
from. Is that a rough understanding of the cause that you are rallying
for? - Shao

Stupid Newbie: can't connect localhost:901 - help
...ction was
refused when attempting to contact localhost:901
I think maybe that something is not properly setup in
my browser, but i've tried:
no proxy for:
localhost //added by me to see if it would make
any difference...but it didn't
I'm sure there is something really small and stupid
that i've forgotten, and i'll feel like an idiot when
someone tells me, but i've spent WAY TOO LONG trying
to figure this out on my own. Thanks in advance

I make the following test :

stupid questions ..
just three "stupid" questions I need to ask ..
1. what's the sequence to press on a SIP phone to transfer a call to another
extension.
2. what's the same thing if you want to hold an incoming call, speak to the
other extension, then pass the call?
3. what's the extensions.conf syntax to dial two SI...

[stupid headers]
I setup icecast on my O-bsd server recently and
whenever I try to connect with a shoutcast DSP
(winamp/m$) I get the error on my server:
"Kicking unknown 1 [cust8950.lava.net] [Stupid
headers], connected for 0 seconds"
I have had it working on freebsd, and even used my
working confif file.
the only difference is when there is no password
supplied I get a "no encoder" error
this is version 1.3.10 installed from "ports"
any suggestions?
thanks

Where would I start if I wanted to try and develop my own firmware for a

for Cisco 7940's. Any ideas?

Stupid newbie question
Is there a configuration file in asterisk used for modifying Daylight savings time or is this strictly being dictated by linux?

comment on another command line option
I would like ssh to have the command line option of supplying the passphrase.
This would make it possible to do attendant free scp transfers from PHP, for
example. As it is, it is impossible to use a web script to initiate an scp xfer
if an encrypted private key is used.
I realize that stupid people could make shell scripts or web scripts then with
the pass phrase in them, but those same stupid people are just as likely to walk
out in front of cars. The preferred method is to supply the passphrase through
an ssl connected web page/script for a one time use.
without the ability to do at...

Stupid question about IE and WINE
...h Microsoft, any of their products or their web
site. Just about everything I've ever needed has been available as open
source, and the few exceptions have been very nicely handled by WINE. :-)
However, this means I don't know my way around Microsoft's web site.
So I now have a very stupid question about IE that I hope someone can
provide a quick answer to.
Where can I get IE?
Would some kind soul please supply the URLs for IE 5 and IE 6 so I can get
the <expletive deleted> programs? I'm not too worried about the many
security patches because the programs will be runn...

Stupid redhat problem
I've got a stupid startup problem with samba under RedHat 5.0. Whenever I
restart the system (I moved the server yesterday, so it got a reboot) samba
doesn't startup. Looking at the /etc/rc.d/rc3.d directory shows there there
is no link from there to /etc/init.d/smb. I put such a link in at some
point in the pas...
