Where is the stud.ci() function used in boot.ci()?
Hello! I am trying to duplicate the studentized bootstrap confidence interval calculations in boot.ci() without using boot.ci(). My w/o boot.ci() calculations are close to boot.ci() using the same object from implementation of boot(), but not quite the same (I think the differences are due to how quantiles are computed for z*). Through examining the boot.ci() code, I can see there is a call

sshd demons
Hi there, I'm having a problem with sshd demons not shuting down after connection is closed. The strange thing is that this is happening on both my Redhat 6.2 server and Redhat 7.0, both running OpenSSH_2.3.0p1. I'm positive that KeepAlive is set to yes ! Is this a common problem ? I'm suspecting that is has something to do with the client as well. Think we're all using

optimize calculations
Hi, I have a model, which has a logaritmic response, but there is an offset for this response. I use optimize to find a value to minimise the residuals of the model: f2 <- function(x,df) sum(summary(lm(log((y-x)/Mnd) ~ I(1e+05/(8.617*(Temp + 273.16))), df))$residuals^2) start <- optimize(f2,c(0,min(y)),df=df)$minimum mod <- lm(log((y-start)/Mnd) ~ I(1e+05/(8.617*(Temp + 273.16))), df)

Next Vorbis beta, MPEG+ enkoder
Hi. When can we expect the next beta version of Vorbis encoder (with some tagging & encoding options I hope)? Also, today I tested MPEG+ encoder which you can download from http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/user/73884/mppenc.zip (win encoder) http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/user/73884/in_mpp.zip (winamp plug-in) http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/user/73884/mppdec.zip (win decoder) It sounds

Use of nesting in lmer- error in numerical expression
Dear R users, I am trying to fit a GLMM using lmer to a dataset where the brood identity (LNRREIR) is nested within mothers identity. The reason for this is that each mother can have several nests within each year and also between years. I am running the following script (actually I have tried all different combinations with LNRREIR and mother): mod <- lmer(sr~z.hatchday +

epel-repository | repomd.xml.asc: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404
Hi. I try to install openvpn at my centos 7 server (CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810 (Core)). According to many tutorials at the internet, I was using yum install epel-release -y to enable the repo. When (after installing epel-release) I try to install openvpn using yum install openvpn -y I get this error: Geladene Plugins: fastestmirror Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile

how to skip a specific value when using apply() function to a matrix?
Hello R experts, I'd like to studentize a matrix (tmp1) by column using apply() function and skip some specific values such as zeros in the example below to tmp2 but not tmp3. I used the script below and only can get a matrix tmp3. Could you please help me to studentize the matrix (tmp1) without changing the zeros and generate a new matrix tmp2? Thanks, Joshua tmp1 [,1] [,2] [,3] [,4]

Major quality decrease in RC3 compared to RC2
Hello... I was very surprised when I found, that oggfiles created with RC3 are much worse than files made with RC2. I have some example sound file set up for you on the net. The difference is *obvious*. While RC2 made ogg-files, which I would say are perfect (at least I cannot hear a difference to the original), the quality of RC3 is *bad*. Let me first say, that I used libvorbis0, libogg0

Noisy sound quality with Blackfin in WB-mode
Hello all, I'm testing the Speex codec for my diploma thesis on a BF-533 Blackfin under uCLinux (2005R3 RC3 release). I successfully compiled the Speex (1.1.11-svn) and I can encode/decode wav-files on my STAMP-board using the speexenc/speexdec sample apps. But I encountered that the decoded file sounds strange/noisy, when compiling with "--enable-blackfin-asm" +

R-help: beginner question
Hi, I am a beginner user of R. I have a trivial question ? I am almost ashamed I cannot figure it out does not matter how many times I am reading the help. I have a table in .txt format, tab delimited. I can read it with ?read.delim()? with no problems. Afterwards I would like to use boxplot function to see if there are any outliers in the column 5 of my data called TPAH16.ppm In the

kernlab's ksvm method freeze
Hello, I am using kernlab to do some binary classification on aminoacid strings. I am using a custom kernel, so i use the kernel="matrix" option of the ksvm method. My (normalized) kernel matrix is of size 1309*1309, my results vector has the same length. I am using C-svc. My kernlab call is something similiar to this: ksvm(kernel="matrix", kernelMatrix, trainingDataYs,

Plotting symbols with two positions?
Thanks a lot to Demitris for a prompt answer some minutes ago on another tread (see below). To avoid excess mails on the list, I move onto next question: I have another small plotting problem that confuses me. I want to plot results from a field trial series, using the numbers of the trials as symbols in the plot. pch = as.character(trial_no) works fine, but truncates the trial number to the

Z aware interpolation
Hello again, There is any package which does Z aware (real 3D) interpolations? It can be any method (IDW, kriging or spline) but it should take into consideration not only x and y coordinates for interpolation, but also z coordinate. I looked into different packages but it seems i didn't find the right one. The ultimate goal is to import the output into a GIS (Geographical Information

Noisy sound quality with Blackfin in WB-mode
Hi Bernhard, Can you confirm I'm understanding everything correctly? You encode with the same encoder and then decode with either A) blackfin assembly and fixed-point or B) fixed-point only on Blackfin. Then A) sounds bad and B) sounds good. If you do the same in narrowband, it sounds OK. Is that correct? If that's the case, it's *probably* some kind of bug and/or invalid assumption

AD groups mapped to wrong GIDs
Hi list, I need some help getting group mapping to work: We've got a fileserver serving Linux clients via NFS. NSS source for users and groups is LDAP (sssd). nsswitch.conf: [...] passwd: compat sss group: compat sss shadow: compat sss [...] So far, this works quite well since years. Now I tried to have our content served via Samba for our Windows clients.
