Encoder bug (studder in an encoding)
...is an encoder bug or just a weakness in the algorithm, but I have a sample of "Time" from Dark Side of the Moon, where the clocks go off in the beginning. There's one clock in the right channel 34 seconds in just as they're winding down. In the vorbis encoding, the clock 'studders' and there seem to be some low-frequency pops. A bit like the waveform is being very rapidly cycled in and out of the bistream. Its quite noticable. Samples are posted at http://ephemeralfic.org/time.flac, time128.ogg, time160.ogg, and time192.ogg (it occurs at all three bitrates). Encoder...

troubleshooting echo on speakerphone
Hello all, I'm looking to troubleshoot some echo issues and possibly "studdering" while using the speakerphone with the Intellitouch ITC3002. On the hardware end, i have a 2621 setup as the router with some policy maps for qos, and a 2900XL with cos priority set to 5. I have setup created 2 vlans currently (really small office), 1 for corp/data, and 2 voice vlan. As...

...ting sleep_ratio to 0 | in icecast.conf. Although it burns more CPU it may save you some | grief. Alternatively you could try checking out icecast from CVS, | although I wouldn't recommend using the web interface to do it :) Per my email a few days ago, the sock.c return value fix fixed all my studdering problems. Checking out what's in icecast CVS right now will give you that (and other) bug fixes. Brendan/Jack: I think it's enough to warrant a tag and release of 1.3.11. /dale --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.or...

Alrighty.. ALMOST there! :)
...hink that *sending* the stream is now squared away, but I think one problem remains on the receiving end of things. I use the perl streamcast utility to stream my playlists, and tracks sound great. But sometimes when the tracks change, the new track will get regular half-a-second audible gaps - no studdering or repeats - just gaps. Sometimes it'll persist through the next track... sometimes it clears up when the next track starts. My hunch is that icecast wants/expects a constant incoming stream of data, and I think if there are any gaps in the incoming stream, it messes it up. It's plausi...

Zaptel Problems with 1.0.9
I'm experiencing rather severe problems with 1.0.9 (we've had to backrev to our last version we know works (1.0.5). We are running a single PRI line with a T100P card. After about 10 hours of asterisk running and the modules loaded we start hearing noise and "stuttering" on any call that passes over the PRI line. I've tried this with echo cancellation on and off with

slightly less random random macs
Hello all, There''s been many posts lately about problems that stem from either duplicate macs, non static macs and other networking issues that would be averted if a mac was specified upon vm creation. I''ve been using this little function I wrote in my shell scripts that setup dom-u''s from a csv file and its worked rather well, lets you control the prefix and

Checking out what's in icecast CVS right now will > give you that (and other) bug fixes. which patch exactly is that? I looked into Mark's patch and it seems to be unsafe (try setting up a client which reads much too slowly and see if it bogs down all the other clients). I...

getting l4d2 to run better?
Hey guys, I'm running ubuntu 10.04 on wine 1.2-rc3 on a Asus G73JH Laptop. Ive gotten steam and l4d2 to install and I can run both, but while in game with l4d2, it runs okay at certain points but then studders/slows down when the action ramps up. Is there anything I can do to improve the performance so its more playable? Thanks for the help.

FW: Dropping clients between songs
Actually, it was a coincidence that it was between songs... after trying again, my Winamp list the stream, and I looked in the icecast.log file and saw this: [03/May/2001:19:34:43] [8:Source Thread] Kicking client 11 [192.168.1.4] [Too ma ny errors (client not receiving data fast enough)] [listener], connected for 2 m inutes and 9 seconds, 1866136 bytes transfered. 0 clients connected Is this

Sacrilege, but...
Hi all, I'm afraid that having spent yet another entire day floundering around in the world of icecast, I've really now got to the point of asking a difficult question. I set up an icecast server back in early 1999, and it seemed to work fine for months. We had a server crash here that meant I had to go and reget the sources to rebuild, and ever since then it has been nothing but
