Thank you Charles Berry for your kind reply. I don't see anything wrong with the word "struggling". I have spent several hours trying various R packages like kernlab and GPfit to use GP to create a binary classification model which produces a prediction interval for each sample. I have been struggling because with all of them you may create a GP classification model but it only

How could rsync be improved so that others won't have to struggle so much to find out about --modify-window=1?
I am running rsync 3.0.4 on Cygwin. Before, when I resumed interrupted rsyncs, every file would be re-copied all over again. I struggled to find an answer until now I found it: I needed to specify --modify-window=1, since one of the disks is FAT32. How could rsync be improved so that others won't have to struggle so much? Here are some options: 1. At the start of each run, rsync should check the filesystem types, and if one...

struggling with pigeonhole date extensions
...nd the unmanageability of volumes these days without rules. What would be nice to have is something like the Outlook rule manager as a front end and server side sieve scripts on the back. I looked at Modoboa (which seems to be the only standalone option), but it's a bit heavy for my taste and I struggled to configure it in the time I had available. Thanks in advance.

Config and other areas of struggle
Hi Alan, Yes, this is what I am saying. The ports are already forwarded. Still no go. Cheers. From: Alan Bowness Sent: Saturday, July 23, 2016 10:01 AM To: Icecast streaming server user discussions Subject: Re: [Icecast] Config and other areas of struggle Confused me for ages.. until one day! Which out of the listed machines (on the router) is the one you are needing the port forwarded to? Forward that machine to the port you require, I would have used a lower port number 8010 or another unused port. From: Damien Sykes-Lindley Sent: Saturda...

I am very sorry for such a simple question, but I am struggling with "split". I have the following data frame: x<-data.frame(A=c(NA,NA,NA,NA,"split",NA,NA,NA,NA,"split",NA,NA,NA,NA,"split",NA,NA,NA,NA),

Struggling with S3/S4 interface issues and External Pointers
I'm currently working on embedding R into the Apache2 webserver (with some positive results...), but I'm struggling to identify the best way to expose the apache data and functions to R. A couple of thoughts: In light of the recent discussion on "S3/S4 classes performance comparson", I'm leaning toward implementing the interface with S3 style classes. I appreciate

Please help a struggling student with data set-up for
Hi, I agree with Ista that you need the second option. So long as you don't want to look at interactions between condition and item it shouldn't be a problem that you don't have the same items in each condition. However, it may be difficult to find a main effect of condition that couldn't also be attributed to items within that condition. So long as this isn't an issue for

While a plea about struggling may seem appropriate to you, it is just as content-free as a reply telling you to use Google... and like it or not, that tit-for-tat arises due to frustration with lack of specificity as detailed by Charles. That is, if you are constructive about documenting your issue with a reproducible example and mentioning what you have tried and how it failed, you won't

Spaced text (from Digest)
On the suggestion for double-spaces, I share the general 'oh no'. I see an explosion of people with iPads etc trying out Markdown in education because formatting sucks on iPads. They struggle with needing new lines (see recent post for an example). In short, they struggle with white-space (invisible) mark-up. Added to that, frequently cut and paste leaves double spaces (eg in BBEdit which abandoned smart copy paste on this years ago in despair). Then perhaps most crucially, what abo...

For the record: I **was** trying to be helpful. I simply didn't know whether "I struggled" meant that the OP had done a web search; as Chuck mentioned, when I did one, I found what looked like possibly helpful hits. The OP's hostile response frankly surprised me, but I see no reason to respond in kind. Cheers, Bert Bert Gunter "The trouble with having an open mind is...

creating a contingency table from a data.frame automatically (NOT BY HAND)
Hello there! I am still struggling with a binomial response over all categorical variables (some of them with 3 levels, most with 2 levels). After initial struggles with glm's (struggle coming from the data, not the actual analysis) I have decided to prefer contingency tables. I have my data such as: response: hunting.prev=c("success","fail","success","success","success","fail",...) one of 21...
