Compiling FLAC for tremor and StrongARM
Hi, I'm developing squash (shameless plug: http://freshmeat.net/projects/squash/ ), and I've just added FLAC support. I'm going to hold off on OggFLAC support until the high level interface is in place. However, my question concerns compiling libFLAC for the strongarm. First I noticed that I could not use the files compiled by tremor, which I have already working. I suppose that may make sense, depending what tremor encompasses. In order to get it to mostly compile I had to install libogg. I do not know if it is compiled successfully but it didn't return...

PDA as source client
Has anybody used anything other than a PC as a source for icecast2? Are PDAs powerfull enough? I know vorbis encoding takes a signifigant amount of CPU power, but I've been able to do it on 4 year old PCs. Does a 206MHz Intel StrongARM 32-bit RISC processor have as much power as a 200 Mhz Pentium? I'm thinking Compaq iPaq, running Familiar Linux and IceS, would make a nice portable $220 source. Any thoughts? -- Luke Stodola minus273point16c@fastmail.fm -- http://www.fastmail.fm - A fast, anti-spam email service. -...

Speex split across processors?
I am interested in using Speex in an embedded system built around an ARM microcontroller. I have seen other posts indicating that Speex can run in real-time on some iPAQ PDA's, but these are using a StrongARM 166MHz processor. I'm looking more at the chips from Atmel (SAM7), Philips (LPC2xxx), and TI (TMS 470), which are ARM7TDMI with on-chip SRAM and flash, running at speeds of 33 to 60MHz. 166 down to 60 is a big drop, but I'm hoping to gain performance due to lack of wait states (no externa...

Vorbis suitable for PDAs?
...s everpresent in my mind. However, one things worries me... A user running linux on his (ipaq?) PDA reported skipping and halted playback using mpeg123. Apparently this was caused by lack of processor resources because mpeg123 was programmed for a FPU-enabled CPU. (Thus performing very poor on a StrongArm) Is this the cause for Vorbis too? <p><p><p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe...

Re: [iPAQ] Ogg Vorbis fixed-point math anyone ?
...we have a integerized version of the vorbis libraries that are available, royalty free, with a simple attribution requirement. These libraries are 100% C code and run faster than real time on a cirrus 7312-74mhz processor (arm core). My guess is they should run at about 20-30% cpu utilization on a strongarm/200. Monty has this same code, but his version doesn't play b4 content real time. Speex split across processors?
...end is also a requirement. Some of the very low bitrate codecs like 2.4kbps sound more like a speech synthesizer than the actual speaker's voice; this won't be acceptable. I have some restrictions on the chip I'm able to use; I'd like to use a single-chip micro instead of, e.g. a StrongARM with support logic and external memory. I also believe that StrongARM is available mostly (entirely?) in BGA packages, which are impossible to hand-solder. I need hand-soldering, low cost, and low complexity. I guess the only way to find out is to try it. I'll make some time to build a klun...

[LLVMdev] How well does clang perform with ARMv4?
<div style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; COLOR: #000000; FONT-SIZE: 12px"><div> I’ve got an embedded development board with an ARMv4 chip that has no thumb support whatsoever. Given that lib/Target/ARM/ARM.td has no apparent option for ARMv4 without Thumb, can I still use clang for ARMv4, or am I out of luck? Can I expect to use clang in the future, or am I going to be stuck with the

Speex for PDA
hello, I have recently compiled speexenc for WinCE/StrongARM SA-1110-processor. It seems to run with no errors, however the encoding time is very slow - 10 seconds of speech takes aprox 3 minutes to encode. Even though the target architecture is significantly less powerfull than a standard PC, I am trying to figure out why it is this slow. Does speex use f...

Fixed point version.
I have read a few messages about a fixed point version and I have some questions. 1. Will just the decoder be available in a fixed point version. 2. If the encoder is available will it work on a 400 mhz XScale "Strongarm" 3. Will it work on a dsp? if so how fast of one will I need. 4. Any chance of a FPGA version? I really need to be able to encode in real time or very close to it in an embedded device. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg...

Ogg Vorbis fixed-point math anyone ?
A few months ago, there was some discussion about adding fixed-point support for iPAQ's StrongARM to Ogg Vorbis (whether and how it's possible, that is). Has anybody tried this yet ? Prob Stupid Questions
Is theora based on Floating Point or Integer. I haven't looked at it much, but would like to help make sure it runs on other architectures ok. (especially: StrongARM (Zaurus) and DEC Alphas) Also as of now how efficient is the player compared to mpeg4? Aside from constant rewrite (as theora changes), why would someone not want to write a plugin to test it? Just new to theora, and wondering about things. I have compiled it on x86 and have been impressed wit...

Dahdi > CAPI migration
Hello Folks, I looking to migrate a pbx from one server to another. The original server has this ISDN card: ? 00:00.0 ISDN controller: Cologne Chip Designs GmbH ISDN network Controller [HFC-4S] (rev 01) ? The new server: 00:00.0 I2O: Digital Equipment Corporation StrongARM DC21285 (rev 04) << AVM ISDN Controller C4 Now I'm not fully aware of both's cards functions since the manuals are very brief. What I heard is that the later card does not support some NT commands what I might going to need at this migration. I can't really say if one card is &q...

Speex on Nokia 6600
Hmm, what these instructions do? (I know nothing about ARMs; I have some knowlege about x86 assemblers and programming). Cant we use pure standard C++ or Java? Does Speex work with fixedpoint math? (As far as I know Java on 6600 has no builtin floatingpoint, there is emulation class somewhere on the net, but it is probably painfully slow.) I do not know if this processor has builtin

update config.guess and config.sub to support aarch64

Patch: http://plautrba.fedorapeople.org/openssh/openssh-latest-config.sub-config.guess.patch Related Fedora bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=926284 Thanks, Petr

[LLVMdev] The Trouble with Triples
...variants of VFP, PCS, extensions, ILPXX, IEEE support, CPUs with the same revision belonging to two different architectures and vice-versa. Not to mention that we have two back-ends, and one architecture (ARMv8 is split between the two). And all the brand names that people mad up during the years (StrongARM, XScale, Krait, Tegra) which map to custom features, etc. But the way we're solving this, via out TargetParser, is to create tables of default/allowed values, so that users will often get what they want, even if they don't specify most of it. I imagine that MIPS would also benefit from a T...

Some simple questions
Thanks for the response, Jim, you told me most of what I needed to know. > For very tight bandwidth applications speex is probably better, > if you have the cpu. Well, heh, I'm not sure if an ARM running at ~200mHz - with a fair amount of other stuff to do at the same time - really qualifies as "enough CPU." Is there sort of a rule of thumb for how much gumption a chip
