Decimal datatype and trailing zeros
Hello
I''ve encountered a little problem with zeros using the decimal data
type
Specifying a scale of 3 and inserting a number with 3 zeros after the
point (for example 12345.000) it gets correctly stored in the
database, but rails insists to show me the number only with the first
zero after the point (12345.0)
There is a way to tell rails to not truncate at the first zero?

[SOLVED] home folders query
...grrr!
it seemed to prefer my security setting to be domain, but of course as the machine was messing me about i'm not sure if that's necessary or not.
still, seems to have done the trick, and seems cleaner than using nfs via samba to get to the home folders. :-)

Recommendation for searching with regards to timestamp & foreign key attributes
hi guys,
I need a recommendation for searching with regards to timestamp &
foreign key attributes. Sounds
a bit too much but here''s an example.
Suppose we have a "blog" object. It has many attributes such as
- title
- content
- status_id
- created_at
- updated_at
There are also "status" objects which have the following statuses,
"new",

issues with winbindd
Would anyone have an idea why a group listing returned
by wbinfo would be different from the one returned by the
native groups command?
Also, it turns out that the listing from wbinfo is incorrect.
Has anyone else seen this before? I'm running 3.0.20b with
my machine in an NT 4.0 domain. Accounts come from a
trusted domain running AD mixed mode.
Thanks,
Franz

problems upgrading from 3.0.20b to 3.0.21a
I ran into some problems last night upgrading from 3.0.20b
to 3.0.21a. I did my usual build from source, but when I
ran it, winbindd would die on me.
So I invoked it with -d10 -F and watched the progress on the
console. It takes a while reading the winbindd_idmap.tdb
file and then eventually, it displays the message "Aborted"
and dies. Any ideas?
As it was on a production server, I

valid users problem with 3.0.23a
Hello,
I'm trying out 3.023a on a devt server and I ran into an odd problem.
The server is a domain member in an AD mixed mode setup. I am
now unable to connect to the server and I have isolated the problem
to the valid users entry.
My parameter looks like:
valid users = @DOMAIN+"groupname with spaces"
I've verified that the account I am using is a member of the

printer UNC
hello folks,
i'm running 3.0.23b and i've noticed something that has changed.
before, i could give my users (on xp) links to the printers via
\\servername\printername
these days, clicking on such links would result in an error message
about how they might not have permissions to use the resource,
ending with Incorrect function.
however, if i ask them to connect to the server via

to AD or not to AD
Greetings folks,
I'm currently using the latest samba 3.x versions but my servers
are in an NT4 domain which has a trust relationship with an AD
in mixed mode. This has worked flawlessly for the past few years
(I started with samba 2.x series).
I am heavily considering getting rid of the domain and just moving
my servers into the AD itself. Are there any pitfalls I should be
wary of in

winbind reporting incorrect groups
Hello folks,
I'm getting a problem where winbind incorrectly lists groups for
a certain user. I'm using 3.0.27a.
>From what I'm seeing, winbind lists another group the user is not
in. Doing getent and grepping for the group lists the members
correctly though. The commands id and groups return correct
listings as well.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Franz

I?m trying to use winbind to allow my AD users to logon to our linux
computers.

is this a DNS resolution problem ? bad news
>From what I know, if your PDC is on a different subnet, then
the PCs won't be able to see it. This is a limitation of netbios
and is addressed by having a WINS server. I haven't followed
your problem entirely but I suppose that now that your server
has 2 interfaces, it is able to listen to another subnet and can
therefore address requests received there.
As for the loopback

winbindd and groups
Hello,
I'm having problems with group consistencies between my samba server
and a trusted domain.
I'm running 3.0.23b with my samba server a member of an NT domain,
which in turn trusts another domain (AD mixed mode).
The AD admin added a user into a group, but my samba server sees the
user as being added to a different group.
Any ideas?
