Streamlined
I was looking at Justin Gehtland''s blog. There are instructions on getting started with Streamlined, however gems returned an error that streamlined was not in the repository. I guess Justin is putting the preparations down ? Stuart

Scaffolding plugins that support relationships. . .?
Hi All, I''m looking for a quality scaffolding plugin. So far I''ve discovered DryScaffolding and Streamlined. DryScaffolding doesn''t truly support Rails 1.2.2 so I dropped that. Streamlined works, but is full of quirks (e.g. many-to-many relationships not cascade updating correctly, etc). Can anyone suggest a quality scaffolding plugin/ generator/framework that supports relationships? Thank...

Streamlined/ActiveScaffold don't support has_many :through?
All, I hear tell that neither Streamlined nor ActiveScaffold support the use of has_many :through relationships in the sense that HM:T relationships will effectively be read-only in those frameworks. Does anyone know why this is? I assume that it has something to do with the way that the relationships are introspected on? Thanks, Wes...

Beyond reshape: automatically streamlining data
...ting data and drop any variables that have the same value for all cases. Similarly, if any cases are entirely zero or NA, the package could (under user control) drop these cases. Finally, it could take a set of data transformations and keep them as an object, so that the same selection/reshape/streamlining can easily be applied to similar data sets. My motivation for this came from working with employment data this morning. I started out with 11 variables and 35569 cases for Rhode Island, a few selections later I had only 420 cases and 3 variables. It struck me that the process I went through,...

Customize list.rhtml to display only certain db columns
Hi, Very new to RoR; have been a flash developer for four years or so. I have an urgent question -- in the list.rhtml file, I only want to display certain columns instead of dumping out all the columns in the database. Could someone shed some light this topic? Thanks!!! [RFC PATCH] Streamline split extent insertions
Since we know the spot in the RB tree where the split off extent is going, streamline the insertion process for the new extent. Just compile tested, it''s really a question of how deep trees are expected to be (quite deep, I''d suspect), and how often splits are done (have no clue). Anyways, just checking to see if this is worth pursuing... Alan

Streamlining Prcomp Data
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knew how to get R to only spit out a certain portion of PRcomp data; namely, when I enter the following code, I get: > Summary(prcomp(USArrests)) Importance of components: PC1 PC2 PC3 PC4 Standard Deviation 83.732 14.212 6.489 2.483 Proportion of Variance 0.966 0.0278 0.0058 0.00085 Cumulative Proportion 0.966

rails equivalent to symfony admin generator?
I''m an experienced PHP programmer (don''t know Ruby yet), and I''m playing around with Symfony (PHP MVC framework similar to Rails) and I found myself asking if there''s really any reason to use it over Rails. From what I''ve seen just about every feature in Rails is superior except one very important thing - Symfony''s admin generator. This is

Inherited an everything box
Hello Everyone: I inherited a CentOS 4.x box that appears to have been installed with the everything installation option. I would like to strip the box down of all the unnecessary apps and streamline/secure it. Unfortunately, it is a production box and it would be quite inconvenient to burn down and rebuild. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this conveniently with yum and still leave the box in a production condition i.e. leave it's needed services up and running? Tha...

block level changes at the file system level?
I'm trying to streamline a backup system using ZFS. In our situation, we're writing pg_dump files repeatedly, each file being highly similar to the previous file. Is there a file system (EG: ext4? xfs?) that, when re-writing a similar file, will write only the changed blocks and not rewrite the entire file to a ne...

dont run cron.d- when cron.daily-scripts are running
...have some cron.d entries that execute scripts in minute intervals and I'm wondering how could an "official" way look like, to have a condition to not run cron.d entries when cron.daily scripts are running. Sure, I can hack something around file timestamps or so but that feels not so streamlined ... I'd really appreciate any ideas ... -- LF

Find multiple elements in a vector
Hi, Given a vector, say x=sample(0:9,10) x [1] 0 6 3 5 1 9 7 4 8 2 I can find the location of an element by which(x==2) [1] 10 but what if I want to find the location of more than one number? I could do c(which(x==2),which(x==3)) but isn't there something more streamlined? My first guess was y=c(2,3) which(x==y) integer(0) which doesn't work. I haven't found any clue in the R manual. From what I can determine, it is still iptables. Not firewalld.

Embed SQL queries in R?
Hi All, Most of the work I am doing with R uses data which I am pulling from various SQL queries. To streamline the process even more, I was wondering if it was possible to embed SQL queries in R - that way avoiding the need to first get the data, then move to R to process it. I haven't found anything out there on this yet, so if you know of a good resource that includes this topic, I would really appr...

Interface for administration
Hi *, I need to choose a platform for building the administrative part of http://www.zooppa.com Actually I like both streamlined and activescaffold, they seem both good. I''d like to ask to people using it which one is more likely to manage correctly things like validations, polymorphic associations, STI and in general complex data. If it''s also easy to modify it would make my day ... If there are al...

re flecting a line
...not what I want. I want the correct line, drawn on the same graph, but with # response and predictor variables interchanged One way to proceed would be to extract the intercept and slope from lmObj2 and then do the arithmetic to draw the correct line. I'm hoping for a more streamlined method. Is there one?
