Initializing a large data structure to be accessed strictly within a shared C library
Dear R-devel members, The question: Is it possible to initialize and later free a large data structure strictly within a shared C library, to be used by a function in the C library that I'll call from R--without ever having to pass data to and from R? This is analogous to C++ object initialization/use/destruction, but if possible I'd like to stay in C. The context: I'm implementing

Verification on HOW adding a machines works
I'm straddling the half-way point between samba and ldap. When adding a machine to the domain, functionally, it works like you would expect. You enter in the domain, enter your credentials, and reboot. The computer is able to function as a machine on the domain. I'm using the smbldap-tools as suggested...

Problems with Boxplot
...My first question is: is there a simple way of getting both dates along the x-axis and the "*100" calculation (or percentages)? 2) Next is how can I put a legend somewhere to show that red is "data set 1" and blue is "data set 2". 3) Is it possible to get the date to straddle across each of the two dates it covers: as it is, one tick has the date, the other does not. 4) Is it possible to show both the median and the mean with boxplot? 5) Finally, the code works as described above (i.e. up to a point) with the "Post trial data.csv" file I have posted. Howev...

bug in map('world') ?
hi, did'nt see anything in the archive: map('world',pro='rectangular',para=0) yields a strange artifact (horizontal bar) extending over the whole map at a certain latitude range (approx 65 deg. north), whereas map('world',pro='rectangular',para=180) (which should be the same) does not show the artifact. the artifact shows up in other projections as well,

pointer subtraciton on arm for 8.3p1

I can clearly disable hardening or hack out ftrapv from my system, but was wondering if you guys have some advice on how to fix openssh for this platform? Sandy Patterson P.S. [OT] Message-ID Threading w/Subject Append Example -- WAS: pine rpm for centos 4
...amiliar and others find it easier to take adventures. Neither tendency is good or bad, they are just personal preferences. It would be more comfortable for the list membership, and improve the decorum of the messages considerably, if people from one camp or the other, and the many of us that straddle both albeit on different issues, displayed a willingness to accommodate the other side and recognize that there are many important reasons, not all of which we may agree with, why someone chooses to do things a certain way. Complaining about people's email habits, particularly in public,...

Support for layers and alpha channel?
...t could also be a fixing layer, like the removal of the huge JVC logo in Highlander Endgame Special Edition. If good timecoding is available users could even share small overlay movies that fix visual bugs in already bought movies. Underneath It All Remember the No Doubt video where the singer straddles and orgasms and blinks of screen (to that happy place:-) to quickly return back on screen? Perhaps it would easier for the codec if she would be on a layer that simply jumps behind the background layer. Perhaps even more so if the motion in that layer can be frozen in time and continue when...

graph from unix into word
...son I switched to R under NT. One (admittedly cumbersome) solution is to write the graph to a ps file, then take the file into Ghostview (freely available from web), convert the ps file to eps, and then insert an eps viewer. Then you can see it in word, but (yawn) it is all a bit of a hassle to straddle this particular UNIX/ microsoft divide. I did not notice degraded quality with this method. Or you can just put up with seeing only a graph frame in word (the graph will print fine on a ps printer, despite appearing as a frame on the screen). ---------------------------------- System info:...

Asterisk & outbound proxy?
I am tired of nat tricks, and would really like to run ser on a system that straddles the internal and external network, and send all outbound sip traffic to it (it would also rtp proxy). This would also give the huge benefit of actually being able to implement SIP reinvites some of the time, even though the * server is behind a nat. I know there's no outbound proxy suppor...

sample.int() algorithms
...onger than taking the same number of samples from a slightly larger population. For my application, this resulted in a runtime of several hours rather than a few seconds. Looking into it, I saw that sample.int() is hardcoded to switch algorithms when the population is larger than 1e+7, and I was straddling this boundary: sample.int <- function(n, size = n, replace = FALSE, prob = NULL) { if (!replace && is.null(prob) && n > 1e7 && size <= n/2) .Internal(sample2(n, size)) else .Internal(sample(n, size, replace, prob)) } do_sample2() takes the appr...

...mponents.com/FCI_Connect_Company-22-475.aspx) FCI?s High Power Card Edge (HPCE?) The HPCE connector offers a low profile height (2.8 mm for straddle mount; 7.50 mm for right angle) and is based on FCI's cost effective and highly reliable stamped-and-formed power contact technology. Rated to 9A per power contact beam (with multiple power contacts fully energized) without exceeding a 30?C temperature rise in still air. Micro-USB Connectors...
