Why does * only work with an ancient mpg123?
Hi list!
Just wondering, why is * sticking with an mpg123 version from the
stoneage?
Gentoo comes with 0.59s-r8 and this version doesn't even start.
Ik know I could forcibly unmerge mpg123 and install the old version but I
guess some day newer versions will have to be supported?
Thanks!

LDAP congestion
Hello,
I've been asked to have a look at a misbehaving mail server of some
colleagues today where almost all logins where failing or excessively
delayed, while the LDAP database itself was pretty fast.
They run Dovecot 1.2.11 (yes, I know, stoneage) against an LDAP server
run by a 3rd party, auth_bind=yes (required). The problem is that this
third party LDAP server delays bindResponse 3 seconds when the password
is wrong. A user wanted to login every 2-3 seconds this morning with the
wrong password, which effectively killed the system becaus...

Sv: Using locator() to digitise
....
Now I use R which doesn't seem to allow pasting the picture into the graphics window, so I copy the graph onto a transparency
sheet, and stick it onto my screen using tape. The coordinates need to be converted to make sense (as you describe).
My methodology with the transparency has a "stoneage" appearance, but it works quite well, if I may say so myself.
I have written down some notes that describes what I did, but it's in Swedish so I guess it's not of much help.
Kind regards,
Sixten.

vorbis-tools' autoconf requirements
Hi,
<p>while I do understand that using stoneage tools everywhere for maximum
compatibility is silly, top-notch requirements are silly, too. ;P Is
autoconf 2.53 really necessary? E.g. OpenBSD 3.2 comes with 2.52 in the
ports, but that minor difference is already enough for vorbis-tools'
autogen.sh and friends to throw up. Any chance to lower...

compiling under redhat
Hi there.
I have tried to compile icecast 2 by following
the instructions on http://www.xiph.org/archives/icecast/2870.html
After I upgrated my cvs version i was able to check out
the source just as in the above mentioned inscrution,
but when doing a ./autogen.sh it gave me the following errors:
I am going to run ./configure with no arguments - if you wish
to pass any to it, please specify them
