Reorganize data frame
Hi group, I am trying to convert the organization of a data frame so I can do some correlations between stocks, I have something like this: stock.returns <- data.frame(rbind(c("MSFT","20110301",0.05),c("MSFT","20110302",0.01),c("GOOG","20110301",-0.01),c("GOOG","20110302",0.04))) colnames(stock.returns) <- c("Ticke...

how to analyze time series structures?
h?, I am preparing undergraduate thesis If you help me this would make me feel good. First I need to analyze effect of Dow Jones Industrial average(DJIA)'s return on Istanbul Stock Exchange(ISE). I want to use Markov-Switching Bayesian Vector Autoregression Models (MSBVAR) that is used to examine the effect of a large economy?s stock exchange movement on a small economy?s stock exchange movement. The foreign stock exchange index follows its own dynamics (an AR process is use...

which kernel do people use?
Hi all, I'm doing a very informal and unscientific poll: which kernel do you use on your CentOS machines? Not which version of the CentOS kernel, but which repository. Here are some examples I can think of off the top of my head: ==CentOS stock ==build own from CentOS SRPMs ==kernel-ml (from ELRepo) ==kernel-lt (from ELRepo) ==OpenVZ kernel ==build own from kernel.org ==other? One reason I'm curious is that on occasion there are features that I would like to have from a newer kernel (e.g., --want-replacement from md) that (AFAICT) ar...

stock openjdk vs. epel
If you have the epel repo installed and enabled during a yum update, you get java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-1.0.b12.el5.2 instead of the stock .b09 version. Is this intentional and desirable? I thought epel generally did not replace stock components with newer versions. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

...cent speed. Are you sure that you built GCC with checking disabled (or --enable-checking=release)? Can you please also redo this (along with execution times), adding the option -fplugin-arg-dragonegg-llvm-ir-optimize=2. I expect that to always result in a decent compile time win for dragonegg wrt stock gcc-4.5. If it doesn't have a significant impact on execution speed, then I'd be tempted to use the formula LLVM optimization level = (1 + GCC optimization level) / 2 as the default, i.e. GCC -O3 -> LLVM -O2, GCC -O2 -> LLVM -O1, GCC -O1 -> LLVM -O1, GCC -O0 -> LLVM -O0,...

New rails site. Beta testers need.
Hi Rails List, I need some beta testers for my new site: http://www.smarkets.net. This list is literally the first group to see it, so be gentle. Smarkets is a prediction market for Amazon products. It takes Amazon products and turns them into a stock. The price of these "stocks" move based on the movement of its Amazon sales rank. If the sales rank goes up 10%, the price of the stock will go up 10%, for example. The goal is to make money trading the movements in these stocks. It is best explained with an example. Here is the Agile We...

Select rows from Data Frame with conditions
Hi all, I have two dataframes. The first (A) contains all the stock prices for today including today. So the first column is the stock Symbol and the second column is the stock price. The second (B) is the symbol list in the top 100 stocks. I want to pick out from dataframe A only the rows containing the symbols from B. i.e. something like: prices &lt...

Store/product stock design question
Hi all, I''m having trouble figuring out how to handle stock levels in a new store I''m building. When products are entered into the admin of the store, they have a stock number associated with them. What I''m not sure about, is how I go about maintaining this stock level. Take this scenario: 1. User A adds an item to their cart, and I chec...
