smbmount performance stinks, smbclient is good
Hi,
I use smbmount to mount a share from a linux smbd.
Bandwidth for transferring a big file (via cp) is 1/5th that
of when I do the equivalent using smbclient to transfer the file.
Duh?!
Any clues? Any pointers on how to debug the problem?
Thanks!

fonts - newbie squared
...and the rpm wouldn't install. So I deleted as much as I could
figure out was there, verified that the rpm still wouldn't install (I assume
it is on a database somewhere), downloaded the tarball for wine 20041201 and
tried to install that. Worked. But did I add bugs?
The problem:
Fonts stink. Menu fonts stink. More specifically, NotePad fonts stunk. Looks
like a billboard through a drenched windshield with the wipers off.
conf file
the conf file has this:
[fonts]
"Default" = "-adobe-helvetica-"
"DefaultFixed" = "fixed"
"DefaultSerif"...

centos 4.6 - 586 install - how to get that to a 486 level if possible
Is there a method to get a 586 (i586 text) install to a 486 level?
I am looking for information guidance on this.
I have looked into using debian/386 which stinks in my opinion,
slackware doesnt quite have it either.
So I am wishing/hoping there is a NOT TO painful way to get a 586 install
to run on a 486 chip.
I have been searching but havent found anything useful. If anyone knows
what might need
to be done I would appreciate it.

Re: libguest-test-tool error report
Hello Rich,
Well, that stinks.
I really appreciate the quick responses. Thank you for your time and effort, too. I will see what I can do to solve this problem some other way. Maybe I can virtualize my disk image maker.
Thanks,
Mark

Cannot get puppetlabs-haproxy to do what I want
I''ve been having a mess of a time using this module, which stinks because
its behavior is EXACTLY what I am looking for... whenever I bootstrap new
rabbitMQ nodes I want to add them to our HAProxy instance.
Here''s my relevant site.pp entries:

The last thing I ever wanted to hear was some Windows user blaming FLAC because a bad build infected him.? It was bad enough when some AV software was misidentifying a release as infected; it took months after the virus defs were updated for that stink to wear off.

IP Cop as a firewall and QOS
We are looking for a good firewall replacement which will basically do pot
blocking and QOS.
Our current solution just plain stinks..
We basically need to handle the traffic of a few web servers, mail server
and asterisk box. The most traffic this device will need to handle is what
can be shoved through a T1.
I don't mind buying an appliance to get something solid but IP Cop just
looks better than he appliances I see...

<p>I was going to; asked on this list about it back in December. But the
documentation on the MS website stinks ... it basically says, "Look at
the example GSM 6.10 codec provided in the Microsoft Driver Development
Kit and replace the application-specific bits" ... but, while I own a
student edition of MS Dev Studio, I don't have an MSDN subscription.

Real Windows registry support?
Apparently support for loading a real Windows registry from disk has
been disabled. Well that stinks.
Is there any way to maybe parse the information stored in a WinXP
registry and merge it with Wine's? I have a few programs (Photoshop
being one) that I've already installed on my XP partition that I'd like
to use without needing to reboot.

Feedtools
Hi all,
Is anyone else seeing silly amounts of segfaults with Feedtools?
They''re regular enough to make it unusable, but I haven''t pinned down
what''s triggering them yet. Here''s the error:

Is the server portion of freebsd-update open source?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I'm wondering if/where I can get the server side component for
freebsd-update. Presumably such a component would build and sign the
binary patches and prepare them to be served via HTTP to the
freebsd-update client.
I need a system for distributing binary updates to a collection of
customized FreeBSD machines, jails, and embedded systems.

Inclusive language in LLVM: can we rename `master` branch?
...e life very
difficult. I was never able to participate properly when the subject of
race came up on Groklaw - "black" was seen as an offensive and banned
word, and of course I can't use the phrase "African American". The
equivalent here if I said "African Brit" stinks of an accusation of "you
traitor!" They're not Africans, they're Caribbeans or Nigerians, or or

(like me) are also white.

[LLVMdev] [llvm] r184698 - Add a flag to defer vectorization into a phase after the inliner and its
...xpression...
You can turn SCEV into an IR and inherit all the representational problems inherent in llvm IR. Or you can use it as an analysis that efficiently reprents only the mathematical properties of an expression and is simple to work with. I think it's fantastic as an analysis but really stinks at being an IR.
