simple tbf rate clamping issues
Hello,
I was attempting to throttle egress traffic to a specific rate using a
tbf. As a starting point I used an example from the LARTC howto, which
goes:
tc qdisc add dev eth1 root tbf rate 220kbit latency 50ms burst 1540
I then attempt a large fetch from another machine via wget (~40 megs)
and the rate was clamped down to about 12Kbytes/s. As this seemed too
much, I gradually increased

ZFS Evil Tuning Guide
Tuning should not be done in general and Best practices
should be followed.
So get very much acquainted with this first :
http://www.solarisinternals.com/wiki/index.php/ZFS_Best_Practices_Guide
Then if you must, this could soothe or sting :

So drive carefully.

encoding/decoding example
Hello ,
I saw that in open source projects which use speex , like sweep and
linphone ,
(there are links in speex website to these projects) the encoding/decoding
process is done using vorbis/ogg.
(The encoded files which are produced has , for example, "ogg" header).
Is there anywhere examples using speex library for encoding and decoding
raw files with no "ogg" header?

How do I get just the two last tokens of each string in a vector?
Dear list,
Sorry for asking this very silly question on the list, but I seem to
have made my life complicated by going into string manipulation in
vectors.
What I need is to get the last part of a sting (the two last tokens,
separated by a space), and of course, this should be done for all
strings in a vector, creating a new vector of exual size.
So,
a <- c(" %L H*L L*H H%",

Custom view helpers
Hi all,
I would like to write some custom helpers like the ones available as
form helpers text_field, text_area and the like. My first try was this:
custom_helper(obj, meth)
''some_string'' + obj.send(meth) + ''some_other_string''
end
Object and method are being passed as symbols like this:
custom_helper(:person, :name)
and Ruby rightfully complains that

Outdated Document - DOMAIN-CONTROL.txt
Dear Sir
I been reading through your (?) samba-doc folder on Debian 2.2.
The document DOMAIN-CONTROL.txt is dated 1996 and updated
1998. It mentions that SAMBA cannot be a PDC. This is not the
case anymore isn't it?
Thank you
