Data loss bug - sidelined??
In August last year I posted this bug, a brief summary of which would be that ZFS still accepts writes to a faulted pool, causing data loss, and potentially silent data loss: http://bugs.opensolaris.org/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6735932 There have been no updates to the bug since September, and nobody seems to be assigned to it. Can somebody let me know what''s happenin...

2.0.beta4 "OK Still here" not flushed?
...erybody! I've noticed that my installation of K-9 Mail on Android has been consuming a lot of battery power recently. I've been running it connecting to 2.0.beta3 for the past few weeks and just upgraded to 2.0.beta4 while debugging this issue. There is a conspicuous lack of "OK Still here" messages in my IDLE connections. The lack of these "OK Still here" messages means that the idling connections get dropped very frequently, which causes K-9 Mail to expend much more effort than just receiving the periodic "OK Still here" and going back to sleep. SAMBA setting file permissions
...file (ex. index.html) through Windows on a SAMBA share. For example: All user files are accessed through SAMBA Through W2K, I set the permission on my index.html file so that only the user has read/write and nothing for group and Everyone. Now this should break my web page, but to my surprise it still loads!!! I check the permission of the file on the UNIX server, sure enough the index.html file shows mode 600. Hmmmm, next I check the to see what the perms look like on the Web server. Sure enough it shows mode 600 too?!?!?!?! And yet the page still loads in my browser. So I restart Apache,...

Is ZTDUMMY still required with Asterisk 1.4?
Is ztdummy still required with Asterisk 1.4 when no zaptel cards are available to use for timing? In all the beta releases I used to get a warning when Asterisk started up, saying that no timing device was found. The warning seems to have gone away with the full release of 1.4, which prompts the question... Is it...

nouveau driver one centos 6
I "wish" to not load the or even install the nouveau driver by default. I want to use the NVIDIA binary driver. I have tried a number of things: 1) in my kickstart package section add the line: -xorg-x11-drv-nouveau This did not work - it was still installed. 2) use the nvidia installer and it asks to create a modprobe.conf file to blacklist the driver. I said yes thats what I want. I verified the file being present and rebooted. The driver is still loaded "lsmod | grep nou" still showed it present. 3) I tried "rpm -e xorg-...

still problems with password-expiration
Hi folks, I knew this was recently discussed but I still couldn't get it to work. Even if the users change the password, this message keeps coming... I have no idea what to do to avoid this message...

how many people still use NIS?
