Rsync, SSH and authorized_keys problem
...ssh password-less public key authentication.
I having been trying to set this up following an article in a Linux
magazine[1] by only allowing the specific rsync command to run on the
remote box.
I am using the following rsync command:
$ rsync -avz -e "ssh -i ~/.ssh/backup-key" /backup
stewart at name.of.remote.server:/backup
This runs, connects using keys asking for no password and completes
successfully until I add the above command to my authorized_keys file on
the remote box:
command="rsync -avz -e "ssh -i ~/.ssh/backup-key" /backup
stewart at name.of.remote.server:/...

rsync --delete not working (no wildcards)
...ould like to
delete files from the destination if they no longer exist in the
source.
I'm using the following command:
rsync -v --archive --hard-links --delete --force
--filter=':/.rsync-filter' /opt/ /mnt/backup/opt/
/opt does not contain any files
the destination contains one file
stewart at attobeast:/etc$ ls /mnt/backup/opt/
test-file
after running the rsync command I would expect test-file to have been
deleted but it isn't. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious in the
man page that explains this behaviour but I can't figure it out. Can
anyone enlighten me?

rsync not prompting for username, only password
...est why, when I connect to my rsync server, I'm not
prompted for a username and password but instead I'm only prompted for a
password? I have "auth users = username" set in /etc/rsyncd.conf and a
corresponding entry in /etc/rsyncd.secrets but still rsync only asks for a
password.

If my understanding above is correct, is the only thing required to be

( Assuming of course that all changes like Allow.xxxxx have been made in
that folder only ).
Thanks

Menu help
...rnal image : linux

If I type in the commands manually i.e. memdisk initrd=diskimage.img the
floppy images loads straight away with no issues. We have tried for a
couple of days to get the menu working with no success, any help that
could be given would be greatly appreciated.

Problem starting Shorewall using Bridge configuration

I am running a Debian based system kernel 2.6.7 and the Bridging software is

The problem that I have is in "shorewall start"

[LLVMdev] Error with Gold Linker during LTO
Glad to hear you can reproduce it.
What I don't know is if this is a linker issue or an LLVM issue.

Sorry, I had understood that the linker was crashing, not the generated program.
I can reproduce the issue now.

Managing sensitive strings with puppet

the template variables that needs to be plugged in is a password of

Silencing VoiceMail() app in * 1.4.10
...VoiceMail() silences the prompt, leaves the beep just

the user hits the # key.
How can I suppress playback of auth-thankyou at the end or get VoiceMail()

Thanks in advance,

multiline IP hardphone w/ FDX speakerphone?
...one, but:
1. Most seem to be toys.
2. For many, there is no info on e.g. speakerphone characteristics.
3. When one seems technically promising, e.g. Polycom IP500, there
are *lots* of negative postings about support, integration, etc.
Is there anything decent out there for < $200?
Thanks,

Request to speed up save()
...r 6 minutes whereas pbzip2 took
11 seconds, admittedly on a 64 core machine (running at 50% load). Most
modern machines are multicore so everyone would get some speedup.
Is this feasible/practical? I am not a developer so I'm afraid this
would be down to someone else...
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Stewart
